 No.11894

wtf my fellow leftybros why didn't any of you watch this gem of a series?

Featuring:
>Weak cuck socdems who are also super corrupt and who abandon any attempt at helping the workers for self enrichment
>Based anarchist commune enjoyers
>Snobby elitist upper class bourgeois fucks who everyone hates
>Angry lesbians
>Fascist cops
>Lumpen gang scum
and most importantly:
>The complete absence of any real revolutionary movement in a developed Western liberal-minded industrialized state

It's just like real life!

>The complete absence of any real revolutionary movement in a developed Western liberal-minded industrialized state
Literally every one of these has had one

 No.11896

Damn, you almost tricked me into watching a fucking League show. Crafy, OP, very crafty

Riot is a Chinese company
You do support Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, right anon?

I've never played League and when a friend tried to rope me into watching this I thought it would be trash but it's actually amazing; ez 8.5 or 9/10. It has nothing to do with the videogame it might as well have been in a whole different original universe (which it pretty much is).
>>11895
10 people who meet up occasionally to discuss theory is not a movement; sorry anon :(

Based Maupin enjoyer

Watched it, and it is indeed surprisingly good. The "bad guy" Silco is a crime lord, a revolutionary (although theorylet), and a loving adoptive father, who more or less win thanks to the dialectics he put in motion
ofc he also has the magneto syndrom where the lib writers always make the revolutionary do some bad shit to balance being actually right, but its not that bad, you have compelling arguments in the world for all he is doing
you have vanders the literal "sellout to keep peace" guy portrayed in a good light though
oh and also the random gang of guys who have the perfect society away from all the drug dealing and are in war with Silco because "drug bad", nevermind its also a weapon to fight back their oppressor and their only industrial base giving them some resources and power (how do their perfect society even feed itself ? they dont even steal the drugs they find they try to destroy it…).
And the end is definitely lib where the socdem accept all the demands of independence without a fight because they cant handle the war and are afraid, as if they wouldn't have to get their asses kicked first.
the whole emotional/drama part was very well done
the fights are cool but the music is absolute dogshit to my ears and the violence is a bit too restrained for my taste

I don't get the hype

 No.12173

Just finished watching this, what I took away is that everyone is horrible and deserved to die except for a few people.

The art style is phenomenal though and the story is still decent if somewhat convoluted.

 No.12191

Boring, I couldn't get through the first 6 minutes.

The evil guy was a bourgeoise revolutionary.
The main character is a collaborator with the monarchy. The little sister is a based adventurist. Their adoptive parent was a corrupt collaborator and informant.

The fireflies were anarchists.

Can you please take your shitty video files with no audio back to the only shithole image board left on the internet that doesn't support audio?

 No.12204

no :D
also they originally had audio and were mp4s but I edited them out because they were too big in terms of maximum mb limit and I don't remember what the limit is, so when I re-uploaded it I decided to leave them as is.

All show no substance tbh. Looks great, it neatly hooks together a grab-bag of storylines with compelling characters, but it doesn't add up to anything greater than that. What's the overarching themes? The ethical or philosophical take-away? Nothing - storylines play out, you might feel something if you got emotionally invested, but at no point does it give you anything to chew on. Typical of western animation of course.

Plus it's capitalist realism throughout. Despite being a literally magical place every single aspect of existing society is seen replicated, with no real alternative proffered. Some vague "us - them bad", "pollution bad", "authority bad", "inequality bad". Same toothless pap we've been getting for decades now. But I'm certain it will appeal to anarkiddies and other libertarians.

You're posting this on an anime board. You know, the medium where the biggest genres are CGDCT and isekai…?

>you might feel something if you got emotionally invested, but at no point does it give you anything to chew on
Wow, just like most anime or media produced under capitalism.
Anyway, you're right about everything else. People praise this series so much because the bar is so low.

 No.12280

Oh yeah, and another thing. Power levels are never defined, either individually or for groups. Explosions, bullets, falling damage, beatings, magic - all just as dangerous and deadly as the plot needs it to be at any point. Weird hybrid of cartoon violence and edgy violence. Kinda tiresome when there's a lot of fights.

Let alone the (geo)politics of the thing. Why couldn't the undercity be independent? What is even the relationship? The built over part don't seem to need their labour, they just closed off all traffic at some point. If you're making this a central point of tension either show or tell properly, no handwaiving.

>>12260
You're comparing the best of one group with the worst of another. In anime even silly throwaway seasonals like Vampire cosmonaut or Rumble garandndoll will have clear thematic and narrative thrusts. Not necessarily deep or truthful (former was outright anticommunist stereotypes on par with Chernobyl), but I'll finish them and can say, ok I get what it was about and what they are trying to say. With Arcane though I'm at a loss. It's about eh, family I guess? And how those relationships can be like, really fucked up? Big "This is us" energy

 No.12409

I hope whackier characters like Urgot and Mundo make an appearance in the next season

 No.12414

Why is this in the anime board? Anyways it seems like in this world it is a mix of guilds and corporations because people are born into high status while also working for these guild-corporations. This i believe is the dream feudal socialists had for the world in the 19th century.

because it's a cartoon and anime is the word for cartoon

It's surprisingly watchable, despite the obvious californian ideology permeating all over it and the fucking horrible insert songs also not anime go back to >>>/hobby/

No, Riot has been building up their universe in the last years. This places firmly into their league universe.

>It has nothing to do with the videogame it might as well have been in a whole different original universe (which it pretty much is).
It helps that riot keeps retconning the lore every three years or so.
On a fundamental level, because it USED to be the League of Legends, before they changed it into something completely different.

Piltover and Zaun are basically Ankh-Morpork without the Patrician in charge.
Which is odd, because way back then, those were two independent city states with different geographic locations.
