hoi 4 economy-
>build civilian factory
>build military factory
>build some trains but thats related to logistics

total war shogun 2 economy-
>build farms, factories, ports and etc that are connected to a town growth and income system
>town grows ever turn depending on building, and tax rate
>towns have 3 seperate sources of income be it trade farm and etc
>supply nd demand mechanics regarding resources(tho its pretty simple)
>wauy more different building types than hoi4 regarding the economy(

bros does shogun 2 fall of the samurai have a more complex economic system than hoi 4 besides logistics

 No.19438

>>19437
>also should mention buildings in total war fall of the samurai have multiple tiers aka you have building chains
>certain buildings also require certain resources to build

 No.19444

medieval total war had a pretty good economy even over EU games. Population, trade resources that increase value by distance and rarity, financial traits of governors.

WHat just got me so I can never play HOI or EU again is that - true, its just a map painting game. CK3 has a tendency of empires to fall that I appreciate.

HOI4 is a grand strategy and Shogun is an RTS, it's stupid to compare them

 No.19469

>>19445
yeah i expected the grand strategy game to have a better economy than an rts mainly focused on battles

 No.19470

>>19469
HOI is very similar but very different to EU for example. HOI is focused on depicting WW2 in the greatest detail so trade is less of a focus. Although they should've had a food mechanic, as we know food and starvation played a pretty big role in the war.

>>19437
All the Total War games and Civ games are kind of shit because of the broken diplomacy mechanics. HOI diplomacy is much more sensible and fruitful.

 No.19471

>>19470
yeah but in ww2 things like the war economy was present and thus in the war economy game i expected things like
-steel mills
-different military buildings for certain military goods
-railroads that actually transport goods to factories(instead of only supplying logistics)
-and money supply management to coordinate investment to key military industries

:/

Just play Victoria 2 lol
>>19444
If you want a challenge in CK3, start as the Habsburg count in Switzerland in the 1000ish start and try to form the Arch-duchy of Austria. From there you can try and get Charles V's Empire before the game ends
Too bad the game will need a decade of DLCs before it can even compare to CK2

Heh I decided to do a search for food mechanics in HOI4 and came across this:

>Right here is why this will never be a feature. If this was the PDX forum then your post would have been taken down since the topic of killing civilians is banned. Adding food as a feature even without bring up killing civilians just isn't feasible.

>Even if they could work around the topic of killing civilians I just don't think a complaint food mechanic can be done without it.

Lol, they want to make a war game but are too afraid to make a war game. Even fucking cartoony as civ games you can exterminate populaces. What total pussies Paradox are.

VICKY TWO IS OLD AND IT DOESNT HAVE BATTLES

 No.19477

>>19474
They are in fact pussies, they were working on a cold war game but dropped it because it's too soon or some shit, would've been kino
>>19475
Have you tried Mount and Blade?
>VICKY TWO IS OLD
you're not wrong but if you want a gsg with an economic element to it, nothing beats it. Highly recommend and at the very least keep an eye out for Victoria 3 if it ever releases
Anyways, now that I've seen this thread I'm debating whether I play TW: Napoleon or Darkest Hour

 No.19478

>>19477
both games are good but if you decide to play napoleon first play it with the great war mod

or hell

play empire total war with the empire two total war mod. It adds a lot to the game including the campaign

Shogun is a game where you start in one single province, or 2, in HOI you start as ruling an entire country at minimum, what did you expect, that you would have to construct new liquor factories and farms in every one of 1000 towns in your country? HOI isn't an economy simulator, it's a war simulator.

>>19474
The difference is HOI is about WW2, sacking a city in the Roman times is one thing but you can't make basically a holocaust simulator. Well idk, maybe you could, I wish HOI included stuff like food/POWs/etc as well, but, well, it would be controversial, number one, and number two, it would interfere with the average player's desire to do a Nazi wank playthrough.

>They are in fact pussies, they were working on a cold war game but dropped it because it's too soon or some shit, would've been kino

They just dropped that because they decided it was too boring/unlikely to sell well IIRC.

 No.19483

some mods track budget and resources and they run painfully slow, i much prefer the quick(-ish) games that it has now even if it gives up a certain amount of detail

>that you would have to construct new liquor factories and farms in every one of 1000 towns in your country? HOI isn't an economy simulator, it's a war simulator.

yeah and in ww2 the war was connected heavily to the war economy.

what i expected at least was build some steel mills, or other resource factories besides oil refineries

and i expected some money management too and also send resources through trains to factories(instead of only supplying men).
like give me the war economy aspect of ww2

and its not 1000 towns tho like in the us war economy did they build shit everywhere no but they did build specific certain types of industries in certain regions. while also at the same time managing budget resources give me that

 No.19486

>>19482
nah its because it was buggy as shit and the mod team wasnt even close to finishing after a long time

 No.19547

previous games in the hoi series used to have an economic system as well with industrial capacity and money… and also sliders…
it's all just simplification for bigger target audiences in the end

 No.19549

>>19547
:( goddamn i need to play hoi3
