So, after 20 years, when is the good game coming out?

Never. They have completely exhausted whatever potential they had and are basically the Euro equivalent of Bethesda now but somehow even worse.

The Witcher games weren't bad

yeah they're definitely better than bethesda, all of bethesda's games are garbage while the witcher games at worst are merely mediocre that's my opinion tho people seem to really like them

an unusually salty post from you socdemanon, hating fallout is a bit contrarian. it may not have held up amazingly well by modern standards but it isn't a modern game. when we were kids, it was the balls.

Take that back you filthy n'wah.

Witcher 2, Thronebreaker, and Gwent (standalone, not the W3 minigame) are all great.

I didn't like Witcher 3 since it Hollywood-fied the series and took out all the dark themes and feudal elements in favor of simplistic save the Disney princess garbage and the villains lacked the nuance and realism they had in Witcher 2.

Witcher 1 is mediocre but it was also their first game. Rogue Mage is mediocre. Haven't played Cyberpunk so can't comment but most of the hate was from console players who couldn't run it I'm assuming that on PC it would be at least a 7 or 7.5/10.

A lot of CDPR hate is unfounded especially when you factor in how their business practices are much better than those of other AAA studios. Ubisoft, EA, and Activision/Blizzard would charge gamers by the minute if they thought they could get away with it but CDPR has very generous sales on their single player content and their sole multiplayer offering (Gwent) is also one of if not THE single most generous card game on the market.

Fallout 1/2 was made by Black Isle, and New Vegas was made by Obsidian Entertainment (also Black Isle), moron.
Bethesda only made the dog shit third and fourth entries.

>>21022
This. Daggerfall is good too, and Arena is at least interesting. Bethesda didn't become a churner of shit until Todd took control.

Witcher 2 is so bad, it boggles my mind how people can play that game and not be bored to tears.
Literally read the books, way better experience.

Saying 'Fallout 3 was dogshit' is just an absurd contrarian opinion, nobody could seriously think that other than as a reaction to its enduring popularity

If I had to rank fallout games from best to worst it’d go like this

Fallout 1
Fallout 3
Fallout 4
Fallout new Vegas
Fallout 76
Fallout 2

If you’ve played 2 you’d know why it’s ranked that low
Not just the rng bs but the writing of the game is way fucking goofier than anything bethesdas pushed out considering it’s possible to go from being a child murdering pornstar in that game to a fucking hero of an entire faction in an in game day along with the enclave being stupidly evil for no fucking reason so Black Isle can continue pushing chosen one bs and not center the plot around rebuilding society as a whole and forming international stability through diplomacy between the socialist and capitalist states that would make for a far more interesting plot that actually works with the stories setup

I'm fine with the fourth game being higher than NV,since with mods it can be more enjoyable than it in a lot of aspects

I love what avellone wrote about the fallout 4 and 76. I strongly suspect that he's talking about that whole minute men introduction. I had the exact same experience, that mission was so crap. makes me lose interest in playing the rest of the game everytime

Thing is, nobody really forces you to continue or even complete it other than the scripted shootout event psychologically trying to get you to do so. You can outright skip that part after killing the raiders outside the police station and go straight to Diamond City while barely losing out on anything like you could do with Goodsprings and Primm in FNV (except that Goodsprings citizens are more sympathetic than the Minuteshitters). Still, FO4 is pretty mediocre as a Fallout game for me in its basic form, and I prefer rather to play around with mods, completing sidequests and DLC storylines rather than the shitty main quest, which is also how I played through FNV also (Old World Blues and Lonesome Road are just gold compared to the rushed main quest).

yeah but how would I know where I am supposed to go? might not matter much on my hundred's playthrough but I like immersion. it would have been cool if mister handy just told me to go to diamond city instead of that weird fucking psychic lady

you get the best armor of game and get to fight a deathclaw in the first quest of the game for an annoying af faction.

>yeah but how would I know where I am supposed to go?
Go around the nearby locations and talk to local merchants and travellers. Most of them talk about Diamond City at some point and AFAIK mark it on your map.
>you get the best armor of game and get to fight a deathclaw in the first quest of the game for an annoying af faction.
More like a glorified vehicle/mech suit that is also battered, missing parts and chugs the power cores too much to be viable for 24/7 use. Even with it and the minigun (most of which ammo I used up to shoot the raiders outside to tiny giblets), the deathclaw kicked my ass hard enough to make me resort to spamming stims and kiting it with a shotgun, after which I just parked it in Sanctuary for repairs and rarely touched it except for assaults on raider bases or main quest missions (it is usable without the power core, but you cannot sprint in it while it is powered down).

Witcher 2 has an amazing plot that elevates the rest of the game into a classic. The gameplay is pretty shit but the story is way better than most RPGs especially nowadays. It was a better Game of Thrones before Game of Thrones became mainstream and to this day is still one of the only games which have actual weighty choices with massive consequences. I mean holy shit you can even literally walk away from the final boss fight and avoid killing him and by the time you get to that point you're even incentivized not to do so because of missing memories and context that he fills in for you.

I literally played it when it was released.
It was shit, is shit, and will continue to be shit in the future. This is not a new, or sudden development.
I have no idea where this recent-ish wave of Bethesda defenders comes from, but I can only assume it is fueled by nostalgia. Every one of their games have been derided since at least Fallout 3. Oblivion, bizarrely, used to be saved from this even though it is almost as bad as Fallout 3.
And don't try to shoot back with the GOD AWFUL games media and their petty awards, now and especially not then.

I agree with most of this, which is exactly why I recommend the books over the game.
