UN assembly approves resolution granting Palestine new rights and reviving its UN membership bid
The resolution “determines” that a state of Palestine is qualified for membership — dropping the original language that in the General Assembly’s judgment it is “a peace-loving state.” It therefore recommends that the Security Council reconsider its request “favorably.”

The march under the slogan “Down with the Green Deal” was organized by Solidarity, a farmers’ trade union that is strongly opposed to the EU’s farming policies, in particular a policy known as the Green Deal which aims to make agriculture more climate friendly. The farmers say it interferes with their work and imposes high costs on them.

Global demand for palm oil has been blamed for driving deforestation in Malaysia and neighbouring Indonesia.

Mandela's grandson labels British politician Lammy an ‘apologist’ for genocide
Mr Mandela called on Mr Lammy to remember the words of president Mandela during his visit to Gaza in 1995, when he said: “Our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinian people.” He called on Mr Lammy to “stop being an apologist for genocide” and said he should instead be encouraging students to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and to support the struggle for Palestinian freedom.

Chad’s President Deby wins election against prime minister in heated race
On Thursday, Masra called on his supporters and security forces to back his claim to the presidency and reject the election agency’s results. “To all Chadians who voted for change, who voted for me, I say: mobilise. Do it calmly, with a spirit of peace,” he said in his Facebook broadcast.

In a statement on the X social media platform, the CPK said it wanted to thank “the Defenders Coalition for paying a total of 270,000 Kenyan shillings [around £1,639] to secure the comrades’ release through police cash bail.” The CPK statement also revealed that the country’s director of public prosecution admitted there was a lack of evidence for any charges against the activists.

Police arrest brother and lawyer of Peru’s president over alleged influence peddling
Peruvian authorities arrested President Dina Boluarte’s brother and her lawyer on Friday over influence-peddling accusations, a day after the South American country’s government disbanded a police unit that assisted prosecutors in investigating the president’s inner circle. … The document accuses the president’s sibling of working to appoint government officials in exchange for money and an agreement to gather signatures to register a political party.

700 union workers launch 48-hour strike at Virgin Hotels casino off Las Vegas Strip
The Culinary Union Local 226, the largest in Nevada, said the action marked its first strike in 22 years. The union authorized a citywide strike late last year, but it reached agreements with all the major hotel-casinos on the Strip covering about 40,000 workers before the end of the year, and with most downtown and off-Strip properties in early February covering another 10,000 workers.

Police disband pro-Palestinian student encampments across the US
Tent encampments at the University of Pennsylvania, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Arizona, Tucson, were all dismantled in early morning raids that saw cordons of police sweep in and clear the makeshift protest settlements. PKK Internationalists in the Palestinian Resistance
“On June 6, 1982, ten PKK militants fell while fighting shoulder on shoulder with the Palestinian resistance in Lebanon in the war against the Israeli invasion. They fell as internationalists. Today, on the occasion of the anniversary, we publish stories of these ten Kurdish partisans in resistance and commemoration of the fallen Internationalists of the PKK. Their story “Heroes of the Castle Arnun” was first published in the magazine Serxwebun, in Kurdish and Turkish and in the German solidarity magazine “Kurdistan Report” in August 1984.

CP (Switzerland), Against Zionist repression in Swiss academies!
The Communist Party (Switzerland) expresses its solidarity with Polyquity and condemns the unilateral repressive decision by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) to suspend this feminist organization! The crime? Having dared to organize the conference "Femonationalism, colonialism and feminism: response from the Global South", an event which "revisited the racist, nationalist and colonialist rhetoric present in certain feminist movements". Among the arguments touched upon, naturally, was Palestine's national liberation struggle, and in particular the events in Gaza over the last eight months. An important case both for its contemporaneity and for the different response of the various feminist movements. While some of these movements have rigorously and consistently supported the liberation struggle of the Palestinian people in an anti-colonial and class-based spirit, others, representing a Western and "liberal" feminism, have remained silent or defended the atrocities of the Zionist entity.

EC: Abdicating its Responsibilities
ELECTIONS to half the seats in the Lok Sabha have been completed with the third phase of polling being over on May 7. This has provided enough experience and time to assess how the Election Commission (EC) has gone about superintending the conduct of a free and fair poll. The verdict in this matter can only be that it has failed badly. All the apprehensions about the work of the EC, two of whose commissioners were appointed just three days before the announcement of the election schedule, are proving to be true. The EC has not discharged its elementary responsibility of enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and ensuring a level playing field for all parties. Contrary to the self-satisfactory statement issued by the EC about its record on enforcement of MCC during the first month since the announcement of elections on March 16, the period saw the EC abdicating its responsibilities.

>specifying Europeans
All farmers in current day fully capitalist world are parasitic scum, many of whom are rural bourgeois and themselves employ wage-labor in their fields. The sooner they get completely immiserated and their assets razed to the ground, the better for the proletariat.
