Crossposting from the LatinoAmerican thread,

THE COLOMBIAN RULING CLASS PROBLEM

I just made a quick check and it seems the root of the problem in Colombia is that the country has a serious external debt in dollars (54% of Gdp).
This is why they are DESPERATE to force through this tax reform bill to raise cash. (the alternative would be the Central Bank raising interest rates and crushing their economy, which after Covid is a no-no).
The funny part is that the overall levels of debt are not even that high cause households+public sector debt to Gdp (did not manage to find corporate debt overall though) amount to barely 90% of Gdp which is quite sane for your average capitalist economy.

tl;dr Covid could have fucked up Colombia's economy by making them undertake a massive dollar debt. Watch out for any oscillation of the Colombian peso and watch out for these protests outcome.

Colombia's president actually asked Congress to not pass the new law after the protests, it seems he chickened out pretty quickly https://www.bbc.com/mundo/noticias-america-latina-56966451
Can they do this? Anyone familiar with how this works in Colombia? And if they do block the new law will the protests stop? Seems like at this point (like most protests that start out from specific issues) it's more about anti-government sentiment in general. The completely assymetrical response must've backfired very hard, doubt the protesters will back off soon.

Is the colombian president problematic for the porky class?

Here in Peru an EXTREMELY similar protest happened in November of last year.
A protest against interim president Merino (problematic for porkies interests). The 'peaceful protests' actually were not peaceful at all and were full of people attacking the police, setting shit on fire, etc. Allegedly 2 people got killed by the police (still unresolved, might've been killed by other protestors) and Merino got removed, a new interim President was put in charge and this one is a porky puppet.

I don't really trust the media/social media when it comes to those protests

They simply have to tax the shit out of the people.

At most they can make a softer version, like 25% less penalizing, but they got to raise funds somehow.

https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/USDCOP/?exchange=FX_IDC

Watch this: the peso rn trades at 3822 for a dollar, with an all time high of 4000.
If they don't start taxing the shit out of people or cutting down every minimal social expense their currency value could be pulverized (and all of this is happening in a time in which Fed interest rates are still 0, if the Fed will start hiking rates again the value of this currency could suffer it more and more).

hey bros, tacoposter here

Last night before sleep I was reading information on twitter, and many Colombians said that there was no information about the protests on television or twitter, I changed the location of my device and it is true, but this does not surprise me, because it was something to be expected, but I found something weirder

To put it in context, Latin American girls, like 20% of them, have a strong extreme kpop fanaticism, so much so that a form of idpol emerged, where the "kpopers" unite to take political action on certain issues. Honestly, I thought that they only "took action" on minorities, the environment, or equal marriage, imitating the trends of America. But in Colombia, it seems that these girls support the militarization in the streets of Colombia, they support the imprisonment of communists, I saw that they referred to those in the protest as communist criminal vandalists, and well they say that they support all use of public force to stop protests. Also, they accuse the Colombian socialdemocrat, Petro, of start this caso, which is a form of opposition but is very far from being Marxism, but they say that through his fakes news he is deceiving people to make disorder, because everything is well the colombia according to these girls

I do not know how some girls who imitate America idpol, went from supporting BLM against the police brutality to supporting the police and army of their own country against their own compatriots. I feel this has to do with South Korea's rivalry with North Korea, where they reject all kinds of socialism because South Korea is where their cute boys are, and somehow, that socialdemocratis a Marxist at the level of Stalin

Nobody wants those feminine boys, less in the third-world where the ideas of masculinity are boosted and on steroids, but what those girls do is make propaganda by giving their opinion on the topic of the moment in rrss but attaching an image or song that they like, so that everyone can see how cute corean boys are. Well you said that you wanted people to give the issue more exposure so it would be useful to have English language accounts that covered it to have things to retweet and such.

Thanks for the Deepl link. I've never used it, heard it was good for Chinese. I'll check it out. Google translate built in does a good enough job for tweets for me to understand. It's just better too have something in English to retweet because something in Spanish might not capture a non-speaker's attention.

This is worse than you think. The protests are aimless, at the beggining their objective was to revoke the tax reform, and was being leaded by a coalition of worker syndicates and small petit bougeois groups, but now that the objective has been obtained, we are going to see the retreat of the middle classes, while popular disscontent of the proletariat just increases and increases, but it doesn't have any aim or focus. Traditionally this would be the point where a class party would arise to focus the struggle, but by not existing the violence gets used meanderingly and uselessly, and this situation will not improve until usch party arises

AGUILAS NEGRAS BLOQUE CAPITAL D.C.
May 2021
After verifying and analyzing the current situation about Sucedido in Colombia, the central bloc of the black women gives information that the first step to the war was not initiated by us but
your.
We begin by denying that the army is allied with us to clean up the protesters at night. Army is army children of the government, We are dependent on ourselves.
Several years ago we have distinguished ourselves by social cleansing in the city of Bogotá. Neighborhoods in towns such as Kennedy, Rafael Uribe Uribe, Antonio Nariño, and the entire Ciudad Bolivar commune. They had us highly identified by the cleaning we did at night, knowing the call as "THE TIME OF SOCIAL CLEANING HAS COME".
We started by saying this phrase that we had in it since a few years ago, that's right, THE TIME OF SOCIAL CLEANING HAS COME, Now it was the turn of the evildoers of the authority, all police who are on duty or off duty condemned, army or any military force WE DO NOT RESPOND IF THEY FALL INNOCENT, we are going, CALI, BOGOTA, BUCARAMANGA counting the hours for the start of a "CIVIL WAR". We get tired NO MORE, If they want dead, that will have, JUDGMENT OR DEATH YOU DECIDE We are with the people, the only difference is that we do not use stones. We are not LEFT or RIGHT, THE TERRORISTS HAVE THEM on the corner of THEIR HOUSE, THE TRUE TERRORISTS ARE THOSE WHO CALL THEMSELVES AUTHORITY, no more, Long live the National Strike, and death to the gonorrhea. Welcome, all of you, declare us again
THERE IS NO DEBT THAT IS NOT PAID AND NO TERM THAT IS NOT EXPIRED

I'll transcribe it, please fill in the blanks because I'm not very familiar with the Colombian variety of Spanish:

DeepL translation:

>If you need to go out to stock up on food or ____ that is in the stores try to do it before 7 o'clock.

The leaflets that I sent you first where they talk about martial law, all that… that can happen today.
>Go out and stock up on food or whatever you need before 7, don't go out after that.
In the streets the curfew was dictated and ordered so that the "good people" stay in the houses, there should not be anyone "good" outside the houses, ok? To avoid confusion, to avoid that people who do not have ____ fall in the walk. Because the cleaning of Cali starts today.
>So to keep (it) in mind… If you can share this audio, including mine, with your friends or with the people you know, do it. I am sending it to you because it came directly to us, because we are the first to know about the things that are going to happen.
>Then, as ___ and I repeat, the situation may become tense today: the city will be taken by hook or by crook.
>Today the city is going to be cleaned, today barricades are going to be removed, today the roads are going to be cleared, by hook or by crook. So no one "of good" should be on the streets after 7 o'clock, that was a foregone conclusion.
>So for you to keep in mind. Share the audio if you can, with your colleagues, with your work group, neighbors.
>Be very careful, take shelter, as ___ I repeat, buy what you have to buy, early. The curfew starts at 7 p.m. and is in general for everyone, but "good people" are not supposed to be on the streets at that time, after that time.
>So, I am sending you the mailing for you to share it, ready? Take care and… well, let's see what we are.

I was very busy with work since last month so I just lurked a bit everyday here, but this whole Colombian situation caught me off guard.

I'll tell you this though, we swept the floor with them in Apure state and took control of it in these last weeks, we had some casualties but we kind of disarmed that strategy they had going on there. It seems like Porky Duque was running on an ultimatum with us and now things are blowing up in his face.

The plan was always to use Colombia to try to force us into a war. But I've always heard from my friends in the bolivarian national armed forces, that if we went into a conflict with Colombia, they wouldn't stand a chance and keep up, because their country is on the verge of collapse, so it would provide the best excuse for the US to enter, so that's why we shouldn't never escalate the situation, and also I still have some hope for integration and union between our countries.

>Colombia and Venezuela have very few reasons to keep being separate weak countries. Union Bolivariana when?
We share so much in common is unbelievable. I'm starting to think that we really need to do that to overcome our problems and get the gringos out of here, otherwise if Colombia keeps playing the useful fool we are bound for conflict. Union Bolivariana I could agree to that, it's more of a necessity rather than an idealistic thought.

>So are they BTFO with that strategy?

For the moment yes, and now with recent developments they would have to be crazy and ready to turn their country into a great blaze fire ball scorching from the ground.

>Was it real that a dissident-turned-narco factions of the FARC was the one creating problems?

From what I gather after FARC dissolution, several groups started to form and take arms again, some small ones made deals with the Colombian government, CIA, DEA, US State Department whatever and allied themselves with paramilitaries and narcos, and are also at war with the biggest reformed FARC groups, which are also in conflict with each other and with the ELN too. So it's a mess of a situation. This small groups cut deals in order to operate freely and probaly to use venezuelan territory as way of passage for drugs if they hop on the wagon to destabilize us.

Now the groups involved in Apure were obviously these irregular armed groups comprised of those "FARC dissidents" working with narcos, paramilitaries, special agents from colombian government, US agents, CIA, DEA, NGOs, the media et al to try to create a hot border and replicate the mess that is Siria, probably to find an entry to the Orinoco river, controlling Guri, the Oil Wells etc…

Recently in my ever petit-bourg nation there was a case that was resolved, locking up a truck driver who ran over 4 cops because he was both fatigued and high. There was an outpour of media support, the usual talking heads moaned about how sad and regrettable it was. But I could never feel sympathy for them, at the drop of a hat they would massacre and kill as they please. It doesn't matter how much of a "family man" or a "community-minded mother" they are. They all hate us bitterly and see themselves as heroes of order. These people are monsters.

I want to publicly denounce.
Today my brother and some friends were unjustly arrested by the police.
They were on a corner of the neighborhood, some waiting for a bus, and my brother was on his bike since he was going to run an errand.
They were detained for allegedly being suspected of participating in the marches and of being "vandals" when my brother had not left the house in a month, he has not actively participated in the latest demonstrations, much less an attack on property or has hurt anyone never in his life. Those who know me and know him know that it is so.
During the inspection they were beaten, sprayed with pica pica powder, made to inhale tear gas, stole their shoes, fired shots in the air, threw cold water on them, among other things. They basically tortured them.
That's how my brother and his friend came out.
Is this the institution that defends citizens? Was this the order the government gave? Who is liable for these damages?
If someone knows or knows someone, they can give me advice on how to proceed in these cases, I would greatly appreciate it.
#Stop!!!! #SOSCOLOMBIA

i went to the main protest in my city, and i gotta say i'm dissapointed. the protest was a type call planton or sit down, it consisted of around 1000 people gathered around the main street of my city, and chanting, there seems to be a basic hierarchy, with leaders making people chant, and having a basic security equipment. The demographics of the protest are university students from 16 all the way to around 25, all young, mostly squalid looking kids. I went around asking two things, the first one was how they found out about the protests, and all seemed to tell me that they found out from friends, some told me that they found out in facebook groups; i also asked what program they wanted or were proposing, in this point i got no answers, mostly vague shit about stopping police brutality and stopping privatization, with no particular policy in mind. i got to interact with some organizers like a member of the security team, who told me his job was to stop thieves, he had beaten a guy who tried to steal he told me. I also got to speak to some anarchists, with punk outfits, one of them was wearing a t-shit with the maknovina flag, they refused to tell me about their organization, i guess they thought i was a cop. which is puzzling because i guess it doesn't occurr to them that anyone who knows what maknovina is, is already way too deep into communism, an ambulance passed, so i didn't get to keep asking questions.
The objective of the protests seems to be to jam public life as much as possible, with some organizers calling for the group to move, people refused though, with a division in the movement, which frustrated their plans.
Overall it seems to me like an aimless protest going nowhere, with no aims, you can tell that their messaging is weak because they literally jammed the main street, stopped all commerce and business, and still couldn't get the working class of around the city to join them, a lot of them simply prefer to sit comfortably in the sidewalk with their newly found afternoon, it just reminded me of the carnaval, because of everyone seemed to be with another person, a lot of them couples, boyfriend and girlfriend, mostly partying, and buying shit from a swarm of petty salesmen, surrounding the protest like birds of prey.
I hold the hope that it will improve, but right now, it seems shit is very green, here are some videos

Porky wanted to make poor people pay for the downturn of the economy, which would be devastating. Meanwhile they spend similar amounts of money than what they wanted to extract from the lower classes to buy helicopters and tanks for no reason. Basically the most obscene form of extraction and not giving a fuck. People start protesting.
Porky ramping up the killings of proles to control, subjugate and bring order. People are pissed. Media obviously doing huuuuuuuge favors to porky. Government does half measures, says they'll only steal half of what they were going to steal from lower classes. Meanwhile they turn up the violence. Police shooting random protestors. Kidnaps and beats random bystanders going to buy groceries. Shit is insane. Still on going. Many many people have since been killed by the police. Basically death squads at this point. Rightoids saying that dead people are actually "lazy leftists" and deserve to die. Truth is that people are killed indiscriminately. This comes from the ridiculously violent repression against leftism that the country did before. Before this protests and going back years, labor leaders and random farmers were being killed by authorities with 100% impunity. This is the same extra-judicial subjugation and extreme violence extended to random city dwellers who are rightfully pissed at the proposed law.

This is important on a regional scale because Colombia is a close ally of the US and have been financing anti-Chavismo in Venezuela. There were talks of invasion, obviously backed by the US. More and more that seems like an impossibility.

This is important on a global scale because it showcases the contradictions of the bourg vs worker in a very clear form and also shows the increasingly cracking limits of neoliberalism. This could be the blueprint other countries take as their own neoliberalism fails. Echoes of Chile's protests are obviously there with similar but even more deadly repression. Añez coup had similar patterns as well with death squads. In general, history is in motion and future only spells instability.

I won't dismiss yankee influence, but I think focusing too much on yankee doodle ignores the comprador oligarchs of Latin America. They're either ignored or painted as a side kick of capitalist domination in Latin America when they are in fact the primary actors.

>The withdrawal of the health reform
>Basic income
>Small Business Payroll Subsidy
>Zero tuition for university students from strata 1, 2 and 3.
>Eliminate educational alternation.

The U.S. planned Trujillo's assassination.
Every dictator disposed of was CIA pre-approved. Once they saw the conditions weren't going to break up the U.S.-Vassal state relationship or impose a socialist revolution and the next chud governing the country was a U.S. lackey, too.

every petty bourgeois program includes concetions for the proles, it was true in france in the 19th century, it is true today. What makes it petty bougeois is that it aims at increasing liquidity in small business (through the basic income and and payroll subsidy) and "defense of national production" basically ensuring petty bourgois farmers don't get absorbed, and small industrialists are protected from the tlc, point which is not included in the article for some reason, and decreasing the pandemic, which according to the previous demands one can assume is done both as a concetion, and to stop the centralization of business because of the crisis

>>239782
what is "class based" about them, they involve the benefit of an alliance of different sectors with opposing interests, with the petty bourgeois leading, such movements are doomed historically, it literally happens over and over again, and you'll retardedly defend them

As time goes by they will get more and more aggressive and confrontational towards big Porky.
At this point you have two choices: 1) Stay on the sideline and let fascists take the rein of them like a faggot
2) Try and engage with the better parts of them while isolating the reactionary elements

you need to read theory. The petty bourgeois is not a revolutionary class, it is a doomed class, doomed by the workers' movement and by centralization. They will continue to battle the government insofar as the workers' movement is subordinated to them, once conciousness grows, they will fold for fear of workers, like they did inn italy, france, germany, everywhere. the big bourgeois will then subordinate them and slaughter the workers. This is literally how it plays every time, word for word, in every country ever, by being retarded and not reading, you are just repeating history

Exactly for the reason they're doomed the big bourgeoisie simply cannot keep controlling them 100%.
With profit rates falling there will simply be less and less margins to coopt them.

He sent the military to Cali to clear the blockades a few days ago. Cops are making it very hard to make themselves more identifiable due them dressing up as civilians and shooting at people. Duque and the Commitee couldn't get into an agreement about certain ideas. https://m.elpais.com.co/colombia/comite-del-paro-nacional-no-llega-a-acuerdos-con-duque-y-convoca-a-nueva-movilizacion.html
