So….Mongolia wasn't in the USSR but had its own revolution?

Looking for info and sources.

Also, what sort of role/side did they take during the Sino-Soviet split?

And how has Mongolia fared since the collapse of Communism?

Art, music, anything out of socialist Mongolia desired, as well as any books or academic reports etc.

 No.621228

Would be cool to hear from any Mongolianons who happen to use this board, but yeah they were their own country and actually stayed communist for a few years after the USSR fell. They have a whole history of interactions with the rest of the world even though in modern times they have mostly been relevant only locally. It's a shame that they are stereotyped by Genghis Khan because they've been around before and since.

This is a good topic. I too would like to hear more.
As I've learned from studying Soviet Deep Operations strategy in war, they took much inspiration from the Tsarist army, who in turn too much inspiration from the Mongolians. The Soviets didn't ignore this connection, and continued the tradition of fast cavalry pushes, which eventually evolved to fast tank pushes.

They have a music which is extremely well known.

>So….Mongolia wasn't in the USSR but had its own revolution?

Well, to give a short summary of our history between 1921 to 1945; yes, we had a Communist Revolution in 1921. Albeit coming from completely different circumstances, it was very much an extension of the Great October Revolution and the Russian Civil War. However, despite simply being known for "one of those satellite states of the Soviets"; between 1921 to 1945, we were far from being a simple satellite, or being Communist, or even being a state.

Simply put, sanity and logic are things quite foreign to the Mongolian history of the 20th century.

While the Soviets were purging the priests and separating Church and State, we had Prime Ministers who were priests. Despite being a "satellite" of the Soviet Union, we were quite independent; to the point that Comintern and CPSU were concerned that we might align with the Japanese. A fucking invasion of China like the good old days, despite the fact that it was no longer the 13th century. Perhaps the insanity of the time made the leaders insane too: As one Prime Minister got drunk, slapped Stalin, called him the "fucking Georgian Tsar of Russia" while smashing his pipe; while another openly stated that he found no trust in the Bolsheviks, and that Mongolia should pursue their own path away from the Soviets. It took a purge so bloody, that it killed 1 in 10 to put us in line, and yet even after that, our leaders pursued their own policy, attempting to annex Inner Mongolia no less, despite Stalin's stern warning not to. I guess it's just in our blood.

>Looking for info and sources.

I'm afraid the most are only in Mongolian, or "biased". But here's a list:
< Reign of Political Terror and Repression in Mongolia 1920-1990
Not exactly a neutral one, as the name suggests; but it gives a good understanding of the effects of the Great Purge and its legacy
< The Bloody White Baron: The Extraordinary Story of the Russian Nobleman Who Became the Last Khan of Mongolia
To give a glimpse of Mongol history between 1911 to 1924
<Red Shambhala: Magic, Prophecy, and Geopolitics in the Heart of Asia
To understand the Soviet attempt to utilize Buddhism as a tool to bring Communism

>And how has Mongolia fared since the collapse of Communism?

Well, the typical. Economic crisis, mass unemployment, mass privatization, the ruling Marxist-Leninist party winning a comfortable majority in 2 elections in a row free and fair, only to be booted out in a rigged one where Uncle Sam flooded in 10 times the allocated budget for the election

So is everyone, that's basic Marxism. I assume you wouldn't say that about modern Germans who venerate Hitler.

To answer Op's question though about contemporary Mongolia though:

Economically gdp per capita has recovered and exceeded the 1990 value, though on a completely different basis than what was then: It used to be Mongolia was a major agricultural and light industrial exporter, since however the economy is based primarily on mining for export.

Mass privatization means that all those mining rents mostly flow out of the country, with a modest share for the top wealthiest.

 No.646930

>>646910

I would say that about the Germans. Just because one acknowledges causes to outcomes it does not mean one agrees with or desires such outcomes.

Though in this case, I think a large scale mass killing exceeding that which western scholars claim by the asiatic hordes will be necessary to deal the immense degeneracy, perversion, sickness, degradation, deadliness, etc that capitalism and its vlasovite acolytes bring about.

1. MPP is on whichever wing money is.Through officially, they're a bastard child of Dengism and Social Democracy with nostalgia for the old era, much like CPRF or any other ML or successor to ML parties in ex-Communist states
2. I fucking hated the former president, dude was a porkie of the highest order who used retard nationalism to push his agenda. I despise MPP and their corruption, but I'd rather have my dick cut off and drowned than live in Mongolia where neoliberal cucks for America Democratic Party being only major political entity
3. None, really. I guess technically MPP since they're more leaning towards Russia and China instead of EU and Merica like DP

The death toll of Mongol conquest is bullshit, it's a Black Book of Communism tier number intended to reinforce the Asiatic Savages meme Europeans trumpeted since the 17th century. I won't deny that lots of people died and many quite brutally, but the death toll and destruction is nothing so special as to make him an equal of Hitler, when the conquests of Alexander, Napoleon, and Caesar likely killed as many as he did, if not more. Hell, fucking Anglos and Spaniards 100% killed more people than he did

Not unlike a cabin with a wood stove then. What's the outdoorsmanship culture like in Mongolia? I'd imagine with the nomadic traditions and all the wilderness it must be quite strong. Do people do a lot of hunting? Falconry is popular is it not? I'm considering some potential destinations for eco-tourism.

 No.651031

>>651015
We have a lot of hiking, dirt rally and other types of nature-related sports clubs here; we have a big-ass mountain right next to the capital so you see hundreds if not thousands of people hiking every day even during Corona right now.

Hunting is somewhat common, but the gov is pretty strict about it due to the shrinking wildlife from poaching and climate change.

Falconry is actually not that popular, only local Kazakhs do it, really. But it's the big thing tourists want to do, so you can find it pretty easily if you want to do it

Usually Mongolian Gazelles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolian_gazelle), Marmots, or Deer. Oftentimes Wolves, but they're in the Red Book (which is a state list of endangered animals) so you'd need a license.

Bowhunting is nonexistent, but you can find a bow in popular tourist spots if you want to use one
