blinding account.
They also made like a dozen r/AntiWork spinoff subs.Additionally they had very suspect submissions that got pretty much instantly flooded with upvotes and awards about the rightwing menace, concern trolling. When that failed, astroturfing and all, it was time for playing the victim. A few posts later when everyone was calling attention to their account and other surrounding it u/realCaseyBlack got deleted.
Have a taste of this element(original deleted):
https://old.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/req86e/i_called_out_rightwingers_for_spreading_hate_on/?sort=topI called out rightwingers for spreading hate on r/Antiwork. Now I'm being targeted with harassment and bigoted insults. This is what happens when you extend "solidarity" to the right.Yesterday [I wrote a post](
https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/rdzsiu/mods_need_to_address_rightwing_infiltration_of/) asking the mods of Antiwork to release an official statement to reiterate that this has always been a leftist sub, that Antiwork officially expresses solidarity with all oppressed minorities, and that rightwingers should be here to learn, not spread their beliefs.
I didn't expect my post to go viral, but it ended up getting over 50K upvotes. That shows me that I am far from alone in my frustrations about right-wing infiltration. However, the post was also downvoted by 38% of users. That shows me that my fears about right-wing infiltration are very real and very serious.
The longer it takes to address this infiltration, the harder is it going to be to keep Antiwork true to its founding principles.
Here's my response to some of the critiques to my last post:
"I lurk here everyday, and I haven't seen any of these hateful comments, so this is an imaginary problem."The mods remove offending comments as quickly as they can, so unless you're the one being harassed or you sort posts by new, you won't see most of them before the mods get to them.
However, this strategy is like trying to get rid of a cockroach infestation by hitting them with a hammer. We need a proactive statement from the mods saying that this behavior is unacceptable and your
"Why are you trying to censor me?!"Removing right-wing posts is the official position of the mod team. The "censorship" was already a thing long before I got here. Read the rules. I'm not calling for more censorship or new rules. I'm calling for the mods to reiterate the rules they already have because people clearly aren't reading them.
"I'm right-wing and I'm antiwork too. Who are you to tell me I'm not?"Right-wing politics are inherently centered around upholding hierarchy. The right's beliefs are defined by defending a system of haves and havenots. Right-wingers don't want to end the system of oppression. They want to be at the top of it because they believe they are more deserving than other people. Their problem with the current system is only that it negatively impacts them personally. Oppressed people who are different from them or live in other parts of the world aren't their concern.
In short, the political beliefs of the right are defined by one simple phrase: "I got mine, fuck you."
Right-wingers are selfish assholes by nature, and if you aren't a selfish asshole, maybe you aren't as right-wing as you think you are, and you should learn more about what the left actually believes.
"You're just as bad as the bigots for taking an aggressive tone when calling out reactionary beliefs."Lol. No. Fuck you.
"You're a glowie being paid by Jeff Bezos to ruin Antiwork!"For those of you who don't know, "glowie" (short for "glow in the dark n-word") is alt-right slang for government agents and corporate saboteurs.
We very much should be on the lookout for infiltrators trying to spread messages to corrupt the Antiwork movement. Here are some examples of messages a capitalist saboteur might want to spread here:
* "Actually capitalism isn't that bad. We just need a few small reforms."
* "I agree with antiwork, but is $25/hour reasonable? Maybe we should ask for less."
* "It's fine to criticize America, but we should also recognize that we do a lot of good in the world."
* "We can't risk alienating the mainstream by talking about scary communism and anarchism. We need to become more centrist if we want the movement to succeed."
* "Compromise is the only way to accomplish anything. When we are too forceful with our demands, we only hurt ourselves."
* "Actually, antiwork isn't about ending work. It's only about getting fairer treatment for American workers."
Some people might post comments like these out of genuine ignorance, but if such sentiments spread throughout the movement, they could move us in a direction much more amenable to the interests of the powerful. Antiwork isn't about workers being given a seat at the table. It's about workers taking the entire table for ourselves and giving the capitalist class the boot.
Here are some examples of messages that are
NOT sabotage and have always been a part of what Antiwork is about:
* "Social justice is economic justice."
* "Trans rights are human rights."
* "Access to safe, legal abortion is a human right."
* "Black lives matter."
* "No human is illegal."
* "Black workers matter. Queer workers matter. Trans workers matter. Female workers matter. Disabled workers matter. And yes, non-American workers matter too."
Antiwork isn't about getting more money for conservative white bros and leaving everyone else to fend for themselves. (Remember what I said about right-wingers being selfish assholes?) If you can't get that through your thick skull, YOU'RE THE PROBLEM.
"SJWs ruined Occupy with identity politics and now they're doing the same thing to Antiwork!!!"I'm actually currently writing a book about the Occupy Wall Street protest, so let me give you the real story.
Occupy failed be a small group of "facilitators" mostly made up of college-educated white men made themselves the de facto leadership of the movement, divided the park into upper and lower halves to keep the dirty poors out of their nice rich-people commune, and started meeting in the Deutsche Bank headquarters to write decrees without democratically consulting the protesters. [Here's a clip with interviews from Occupy protesters confirming this.](
https://www.cc.com/video/5510me/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-occupy-wall-street-divided)
This white male leadership refused to listen to people of color, women or LGBT people about their safety concerns at the protest, leading to [multiple sexual assaults](
https://gothamist.com/news/occupy-wall-street-erects-women-only-tent-after-reports-of-sexual-assaults) and [hate crimes against transgender protesters](
https://www.advocate.com/business/2011/11/09/some-transgender-protesters-leave-occupy-wall-street-over-safety-concerns). After these assaults started to gain media attention, the leadership constructed women-only and trans-only sleeping tents but did little else to address the problem.
[Occupy also failed to attract black supporters](
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/why-blacks-arent-embracing-occupy-wall-street/2011/11/16/gIQAwc3FwN_story.html) because it refused to address anything but class reductionist narratives centered around the grievances of white men. If minority groups don't feel like a movement is actually going to help address the problems they face everyday, then why on earth would anyone expect them to join?
So no, SJWs didn't kill Occupy. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and, most of all, class reductionism and the self-centeredness of white men killed Occupy. And if the right-wingers are not stopped now, that is exactly what will happen to Antiwork. Nobody's going to want to stay here if they have to deal with bigoted assholes bringing their alt-right 4chan bullshit here everyday and be constantly told that their real-life problems are a "special interest" or a "distraction".
I'll say it again:
right-wingers, grow the fuck up. If you're too self-centered to support ALL workers, then you care more about oppressing other people than you do helping yourself.
POCs are workers. Racism is anti-worker.
Women are workers. Misogyny is anti-worker.
Queer and trans people are workers. Homophobia and transphobia is anti-worker.
Immigrants are workers. Anti-immigrant are anti-worker.
Workers of the world unite means EVERYONE. We will not be free until all of us are free.
