the Coalición Socialista Democrática was the popular front behind Batista's first presidency where he was elected democratically. the Communist Party was probably told by the Comintern to join it as a national front or something

Batista was originally a democratic socialist who stood against a literal fascist that was pro-German. The guy argued that Latin America should invade Francoist Spain during WWII to open up a second front and to unite the regions against fascism. It was after he thought he might lose an election that he himself turned into a fascist piece of shit.
