OP what about the archaic hominids modern humans inter bred or evolved off of? Those guys had been around for millions of years and it’s likely humanity had an artificial boost in its population due to generations breeding prior to the beginning of modern man meaning earth likely had millions of modern humans to begin with in its early phases than just 2 people

>>662936 and as time progressed, we invented things that got rid of some of these risk factors that caused death. Things like better agricultural methods and medicine. Earth's population didn't really explode until the mid 1800s when the industrial revolution happened. The green revolution also resulted in human increases.

>>662941 Generational population growth in modern man was actually pre prepared for us to allow massive population growth as there have been at least 200 thousand generations of archaic hominids dating 5 mya before modern humans arrived, we evolved off those and earth in its early stages had millions of humans mostly based in Africa and near Jerusalem whom did have many kids due to diseases before spreading out and human growth becoming exponential again when healthcare tech improved

When healthcare improves and more children survive to adulthood it's common for families to have 10 or more kids, until social values change and people start having only a few kids again.

2 -> 4 So that assumes every generation doubles 1 gen = 4 (2 couples) 2 gen = 8 (4 couples) ie, 2^generations = max people, give you 2^7500 people which is so fucking much 10^82 atoms in the universe, or ~10^(3*27) = ~2^(10*27) =~ 2^270 atoms in the universe. To calculate the number of generations of doubling needed you use log 2 log (8 billion) = ~20 You only need to double 2 people 20 times to get to 8 billion. Pay attention in school, kids.

>>662934 You're confusing generation number with number of people alive at that generation. The number of offspring is not 4x but 4*(4^x) (assuming 4 kids per person rather than per couple)
