Because I am sorry to inform you (not really) that the black book of communism it's not really a good academic source by any standars.
I mean, if we apply the same metodology they use in that book to the capitalist economic system, trust me that we would end up with 10 times more deaths than whatever number they fot in that book.
To put an example on how flawed their methology is, they count non births as deaths, and things like car crashes as "deaths caused by communism", so if you think it's not a biased book, it really is.

So the USSR was socialist, it was not perfect by any means, but they are sure better than the neoliberal hell we live right now.

Also OP, do you know the definitions of communism and socialism? Or what class struggle is? Because communism is not "everyone being equal", whatever that means, it has a more specific, and kinda scientifical explanation.
