the meme of "left can't meme" Anonymous 2021-12-29 (Wed) 05:08:03 No. 665156
i always have wondered, why "the left can't meme" and also wondering "why not being able to meme at the same level as right-wing people is something bad?" finally i discovered something: the left thoughts (specially in communism leaning) are based on the idea of giving dignity and respect to people, something that memes usually throw away. and we, as many kinds of left-wing people, try to make a better world, not destroy "lesser races" or making fun of people with "dank" memes, because, admit it: you also want to rescue those bastards from the reich wing…the point is, left-wing people shouldn't feel ashamed of not always think of memeing the rest of mankind, because we want to help them, not end them or hate them, our memes should be well-thought and thought-provoking or maybe focused on raise awareness, not just make our version of le soy face or a new pepe…sorry if i made mistakes, i'm ESL

Well tbf the left has its own memes. All of which are made to serve the socialist cause, i.e. propaganda.

>>665181 Not necessarily those memes probably weren't made by people who are consciously leftist.
They were made to poke fun at society and express a feeling of helplessness.

This is in fact, why I was of the minority opinion that poljak was a shit meme. Just fodder for the back-and-forth "I'm good you're bad", "no u" spam that has saturated 4chan.
It has a purpose, perhaps. But I don't consider it our best work.
Anonymous 2021-12-29 (Wed) 06:38:39 No. 665229
The majority of people that say "the left can't meme" are 4channers that browse a website that bans leftist memes on sight. Those people are stuck in their own echo-chamber and are not aware that they are not the only political group that is capable of creating memes.

>>665156 The right wing memes are funny because they’re edgy and insensitive. It’s a form of shock humor.
Around 2017 leftist memes really started to adopt this style of humor and spread it all over 8chan at the time. Back then, this left became primarily anti-IdPol. They created the Max Sterner memes which later exploded. Much of this attitude was pushed by youtubers like Bat’ko who frequented /leftypol/. However, shit started to change sometime around 2018 where people like Bat’ko started to become spooked with IdPol and gradually become Twatter “leftists”. This, along with Breadtube showing up, resulted in memes becoming more and more stale because spooked leftists didn’t want to offend the woke crowd.
However, after Trump’s incompetence and the Alt. Right being contained, rightist memes have become “boomerfied” where they become as boring as “Let’s go Brandon”.

Overall the left could win the meme war so as long as it’s edgy and not bound to self-censorship.

We don't need memes, our perspective is supported by dialectical materialism. In addition, there is nothing wrong with appropriating rightoid memes. Intellectual property is a bourgeois construct.

memes are modern agitprop. it's art by and for proles. right-wing memes are just lower-common-denominator slop that upholds the status quo as pointed out by

"Left can't meme" is itself a right wing meme not a fact. Memes don't inherently have to be psychopathic or otherwise mean to be memes so you can encourage certain behaviours through them other than schizo-psycho-autistic-brainlette shit.
Anonymous 2021-12-30 (Thu) 02:06:07 No. 666325
I think it's mostly an applicable rule that centre-___ political beliefs can't really be translated into memes. Like the memes here about Stalin that exude complete confidence in their belief are pretty funny. But when you get more center-left, y'know New Left type bullshit that particularly applies to social issues, it just turns to shit. New Left garbage is focused on nothing more than a Mercurial construction of lies and all that dogshit, so inherently it can't be funny.

the "left can't meme" meme is based on the fact that humour is subjective and your political leaning contributes a large part of what you find funny in politically flavoured humour. The /pol/acks are unable to comprehend that people would have different views and different sense of humour than they have and they state that left memes are in absolute shit because it can't satisfy their subjective sense of humour. everybody wants to make fun out people they despise and wants to make themselves look good in contrast. In a sense they are right about this, the left can never meme better than the right, but this only the case only if the only audience is /pol/ and this is precisely the origin of this meme.

>>665156 I dunno I think it's true, but I don't know how we'd go about fixing that issue. I think to some degree, a lot of what happens here and on the online "dissident left" is largely a reaction to whatever is happening with the online "dissident right", such as how there was a transition from meme compilations making fun of retarded right wingers to deboonking video responses. Maybe the issue is that we have a weaker grasp of semiotics than the online "dissident right" currently does. Read Freud I guess?
