So I just watched this video explaining the main reason why communism didn't work
https://youtu.be/S3Jkqqlpibo
The take away of the video is that managers had an incentive to be inefficient.

>The take away of the video is that managers had an incentive to be inefficient.
It's complete bullshit then.
Before Kosygin reforms managers had an incentive to fulfill the plan, after reforms they had the same incentives as a capitalist enterprise would. In both cases being inefficient would cost them their jobs (or worse).

I mean if you ask a south American why is Venezuela a failed state they'll all tell you it's because people just don't work.
The power outages don't happen out of coincidence it's out of the incompetence of the people running the power plants.
Oil production also felled dramatically after it got nationalized.
Ever heard of the system isn't working because we're not working?
Btw thanks google for censoring that.(glowing)

>Venezuela
>a failed state
<manages to resist multiple coup attemps
<sanctioned to hell for being just a milquetoast socdem economy in burgerville's "back yard"

Not everyone who lives under a particular economic system will be a fan of it. Those random people on the street just bought into imperial propaganda and only are surface level in terms of analysis. They think burgerville "works" because burgers "work hard".

Here's a view of Venezuela from a satellite at night.
No lights.
Why do they have power outages?
I assume they have coal powerplants?
Is it because they don't have access to coal?

 No.666851

>>666845
So they have no power because power plant workers don't want to work? That's it?

 No.666860

>>666851
Well I looked up the source of their electricity on Wikipedia
>In 2015, the total of electricity production reaches 117 TWh, of which 64% comes from hydro, 19% from gas and 17% from oil.[1] Losses however are uncommonly high, reaching 34% of production.[1
So their powerplants run on oil and gas and hydro.
So technically yes, their powerplants workers are slacking, it's the only explanation I can think of.

 No.666865

>>666860
Workers are slacking at spinning hydro turbine fast enough because cummunism.

By the way these maps are a meme. I don't know about Venezuela but these maps for the DPRK are fake because the country uses different wavelengths of light and if the image of set up correctly you can make America look dark.

 No.666871

>>666867
Not only that but it looks like it was shopped to me. You can clearly see that all of Venezuela itself is a completely different colour from the other dark areas of the map. It looks like somebody just painted over it with dark blue. Either that or there is some sort of geographical feature that only exists in Venezuela, covers the entire country, and ends abruptly at its borders.

do you have any idea how these images are created?
this is data from varius orbital passes while a lot of noise like wild fires or lunar reflections have to be filtered out.
the number of orbits determinates how this image looks like.
it took literally 6 months and 236 orbits to create the second image.

Why didn't you actually respond to the post you're quoting instead of changing the subject to Venezuela? You're the one who made a thread about the USSR.
Also I'm South American and no, I wouldn't say this. I mostly have no idea what the fuck goes on in Venezuela – I don't live there – so I'm not just gonna make up explanations and assume they're correct.

Is my observations, or has Venezuela been photoshopped out of this map. It consists of a dark area of a specific shade of black that happens to coincide perfectly with the country’s border. It’s darker than any point in the Amazon, an jungle; known for having large stretches of unlit areas with no electricity. Why is the whole of Venezuela darker than the middle of the Amazon? This map is suspicious.

Oil production was nationalized before Chavez. Also, there are many other countries that have nationalized oil production (like Norway or Saudi Arabia) that are just fine.

>I mean if you ask a south American why is Venezuela a failed state they'll all tell you it's because people just don't work.

To the extent Venezuela is a "failed state," and the role of US sanctions here is ignored, it's because of bad monetary policies (like printing a ton of money). Of course sanctions cannot be ignored, though.

Anyway, if everything you're saying is true, then (1) the USSR wouldn't have improved over the capitalist Tsardom, and (2) similar countries with far more oil nationalizations than Venezuela and far more state involvement would be doing worse.

Also, we were talking about the USSR and now you've changed the topic to Venezuela. These things are not related.

They're nationalized but their still ran for profit.

 No.667027

>>666860
>So technically yes, their powerplants workers are slacking, it's the only explanation I can think of.
That makes no sense. The only way this makes sense is if the workers are going out of their way to manually turn off powerplant production.

>>667027
Sanctions make replacing worn out and broken parts difficult I suspect

 No.667033

The profits in those countries are reinvested in the country in the form of social programs. In this respect the same thing as Venezuela.

 No.667047

>>667033
Theyre for profit corporations mainly because the people that nationalized them just want to keep them running smoothly.
Making things for profit seems to have that effect.
Now I didn't make the thread to argue for the sake of arguing but there must be a way to make state ran non profit enterprises more efficient. The problem stems from the fact that you have to trust management to give the correct figures. If there was a way to get correct figures without having to rely on management it'd be ideal.

Venezuela is a failed state because they have given up on any form of autarky or bypassing sanctions. Thier leaders are cowards who have just given up on any strategy that isn’t “gibs please yanks” Yeah sanctions are rough but they can be bipassed and ties to countries that aren’t America can be established. They can build up domestic industry. But they don’t.
