Like you're texting your boss and you imagine what if you started sitting on the keyboard and then hit send, or what if you were a gay Australian man wearing a safari jacket and humping people in public. Isn't there a Seinfeld stand-up where he talks about how everyone has messed up thoughts on occasion, and that they're normal, but that they are better off telling absolutely nobody about them?

Also, the answer is yes. It's just called actively imagining, and the "good" (and "bad") that comes with that. Everyone does it, whether they admit it or not.

a) Express creativity
b) To remind you what is weird/bad to make keep you thinking in check.

More on the former. It being not normal thoughts isn't a bad thing, they're unique thoughts, of course they're not normal.
