Terrorism and violence don't happen everyday because of imperialism. There is violence indirectly linked to long passed immigration policies which put north African workers in ghettos (banlieues) generations ago. Terrorism is a rare occurence and it's not really linked to Africa but rather to middle east groups. North Africa is destabilized because Libya is a hellish mess since the US UK France coalition toppled its government 10 years ago, and the narrative is all the bad dudes they are fighting are rabid Islamic fascists, because they don't want you to know about stuff like the tuareg liberation movement. My take is pulling troops from Africa is an empty promise, the situation is still too dire, I don't think the Malian army can hold key french strategic assets on its own.
