So I want to limit my time on the internet drastically, since I am a dumb zoomer. Since I am a zoomer, I recognize that completely resisting the internet and social media is counterproductive in this day and age.

Without this board for example I wouldn't have found some great books to read or wouldn't have read an interesting perspective in form of an effortpost. Bottom-line is, that most of the internet is trash, but there are some corner where discussion quality is high and which give out great recommendation.

How to seperate the trash from the good stuff though? Which websites and which are passable? Would be great if some anons could help me out.
>inb4 log off/go outside
yeah that's the point, but there are people who are smarter than me and without social media or imageboards whatever, I have no way to actually get more insight. How tf did people in earlier times do their self-education?

Go to a library or join an org and log off.

or join the /read/ groups (see home page or sticky)

>Go to a library
The only good one burned down a couple of millenias ago
>join an org
I guarantee you that if I join the DSA, that I'll be forced to read Harry Potter
>and log off
I made the inb4 thingy, thus you are not allowed to say that anymore.

You don't have to use social media, you can just download theory from LibGen and read it.

Yeah I intend to do that, but who is giving me the recommendations? The point is to to stop wasting time on places that only give out shit advice, recommendations, etc. and limit my time to only those places where discussion is atleast somewhat good.
For example, we both are on this chan, because we atleast to some degree think that this place has more value than let's r/socialism, no?

Well, I suppose… you can just use the reading list topic and stay away from the rest of this board.

This. For fiction, check /lit/'s wiki. There's a good philosophy guide on Google doxx Docs too. If no one has the link, I'll post it when I get back to my computer.

I don't think you need to quit browsing /leftypol/ altogether. It can be a worthwhile social forum if you don't have friends to have these kind of discussions with or hear different viewpoints or learn new information from. Once you get fill, if you could be doing something more productive, it's time to stop.

>hurrhurr i never joined an org but i know as an omnipresent little shit that i would have to read harry potter.
Niffo im not even in the fucking USA and i know for a fact that that is not how the DSA works since its not a monolithic orginisation

Either read a book, join an org, log off, or kill yourself. Your doomerism and a-priori rejection of anything to do with ACTUAL WORK just makes you dead weight on the movement.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Didn't know 4chan had quality content. I think the doc has been posted on /edu/ in the learning philosophy thread

I have joined orgs before. There are a lot of sects on the left and I had the misfortune of joining one for a time and WHY? Because I didn't know better and had no navigation as to which orgs are worhtwile, which are not and which are straight up insane. Also I'm not a burger and I was just sarcastic with the DSA comment.
Also one of the reasons why I want to limit my time on here is how it fries my brain. I mean look how you got so mad at me and immediatly told me to neck myself, when I haven't even insulted anybody. Imageboards really aren't designed for normal people I guess

Get into art, get an instrument or just go for a run. Are you also a student?

Yeah, currently studying at university
>Get into art
Would love to, but don't know how.
>just go for a run
Tried it, but not really my thing. I am more of a bycicle guy when it comes to cardio

Highly unlikely that they are socialists, but I will definitely hit them with an anti-capitalist thesis when the time is here
