Let’s say everyone in society was employed and did one job from the age of 16 all the way until death and never changed jobs, all they did was work the job they were assigned and get educated to perform it as best they could within a state run by socialists.
Would labourers produce more goods and services if they worked in the same conditions seen in most neoliberal states by working in multiple professions, switching to different roles when need be and opting out of work when they want?
I ask this as I imagine that if the main goal of all proles and capitalists alike is to produce as much revenue as needed than the wage worker avoiding specializing his position is more productive than if he was just working in the same position his whole life since ideally he would be making more revenue.

There is mastery of labor yet with diminishing returns, where someone that has 10 years under their belt might not be any worse then someone with 20.

Also market conditions change so the labour you did when you were 16 might be completely obsolete/worthless by the time you're 40.

Why not reskill to a job in a different position in the same field to retain the same education on the good or service a worker was working but with more productive tools available.

An example, a traditional wheat farmer with years of experience using heavy machinery and fertilizer to produce loads of grain quicker.

In controlled environments the changes are gradual for example someone working for American railways in first half of the 20th century would be exposed to the changing as they were rolled out to their part of the network. For example those that started with steam engines tended to quickly get the hang of diesels yet the new workers finding steam engine completely alien tech.

Isn't that mostly how work works in capitalism though? More or less?

We also have the problem that new technologies, social change, etc, might mean there is much higher demand for a certain field in 2040 than 2020. Even if you train the next generation to fill those vacancies, the situation might change again in 20 years so those workers would have to retrain regardless.

Maybe we are missing the point of what OP is asking. What point are you trying to arrive at? I feel that the idea of a world where nobody changes jobs is so outlandish that it could only exist in a thought experiment.

My questions are to ask what would be the most policies would yield the most per capita revenue out of the labour force of a state

In theory, if there was no change in demand/supply, then it would be probably the most efficient for people to work the same job until they die, but that's not the world we live in, so I'm not sure what the point even is in asking.

How the fuck are we supposed to know?
Why would you even want to have a literal "you can only choose once" system?

I’m reading through capital and it discusses ideas on how labour should be organized

Specialization is one of the theories that one job per person for life is the most revenue producing policy for labour organization

This is fucking retarded. it's like nobody on this board understands a single thing about fucking anything goddamn.

In the previous epoch it was given that artisans like a blacksmith with 20 years experience could do their job much faster with more craftsmanship then one with only 2 years of experience. Capitalism has not de-skilled labor where you can expect even someone on an assembly line to work faster with fewer mistakes after a few years of experience then one with only a few months.
Of course diminishing returns means there is no point having having a worker only do on jobs for their entire life.
