Anybody else notice the fugue state that surrounds Russia under Yeltsin in neoliberal discourse? The most glaring example is the "Russian Cross" article that discusses the demographic collapse during that time, where they primarily discuss regulation of alcohol, like Yeltsin and his puppet masters had nothing to do with it. Indeed the word "Yeltsin" does not even appear in the article once. None of the "Free market" zealots want to claim Yeltsin despite the fact that 1990s Russia was probably one of the most free markets in human history.
