I know that NASA runs entire project through government tax dollars i.e. government budget. But SpaceX also gains large part of it's funding through government subsidies since the company is not profitable whatsoever.. . My question is, how are they differ

My question is, how are they different? That is, what percentage of tax dollars funds SpaceX and what allows it to somehow be a private company despite the size of it's subsidies?

Capitalism.
NASA is run as a government agency/service and isn't driven by profit.
SpaceX is driven by profit AND all that profit goes to the owner rather than the engineers.

Whereas NASA, on the other hand, has to actually justify where that money goes and the results they get. They can't send a shuttle up every month and have the astronauts play with their dicks because then the "fiscal conservatives" will have a hearing and shut it down.
Corporations don't operate by the same rules.
