financially, it's easier to afford rent, not have to worry about healthcare costs, small things like prescription costs are better, etc. but I feel you really can bullshit yourself into a well paying american job if you are persistent enough, although it's easier said than done. that feels harder here. and if you want to get anything done easily here under ""free"" healthcare, it comes through private insurance with your employer just like in the US. but overall, it's not quite as stressful.
culturally, it's much more preferable. that old meme of the american interstate exit with all of the fast food places and gas stations is true, and wherever i would travel in the US it would always look and feel disgusting to be around. there are some very scenic and beautiful places here and it's easier to meet cool people if you are not the average burger. Canadians are about 20-30lbs lighter on average than americans, so that's good for the sexual market
with that said, the idpol is everywhere here and it can get very tiring, even though my actual experience with living in a much more multicultural society has been positive. candians resent the US for being racist and backwards while 80% of the homeless people on the street (of which there are plenty) are indigenous and are descendants of residential schooling. politically, there's really no significant changes that will be happening anytime soon.
overall, 6 or 7/10. in other words you're a bitch if you don't learn mandarin, defect and acquire 4'9" wife

Cities are generally very very safe, to a degree that urbanites or middle to low class suburbanites in the US haven't really experienced.
Keep your paperwork super on check, get paperwork done ahead of time.
Not recommended for people who depend on drugs, nor mentally unstable people, nor aggressively asocial people, nor people who aren't willing to experience bad cultural differences, nor picky eaters, nor people in long distance relationships (timezones suck).
