A serf would have surrender the physical product of his labor to his lord, whereas you don't need human labor to multiply digital data. So there is no value produced and those things are no commodities.
A video game for example is a commodity for one fictious second when a creator sells it to a publisher. After that, it ceases to be a commodity.
