No it's not the same website, they are different websites run by different people but they both aspire to be the "legitimate leftypol" they're similar because the code behind the scenes is 90% the same.


leftychan is actually the "original" leftypol that was "stolen" by a couple (3 or 4) of rogue mods and changed the domain to "leftychan", the rest of the mods kept the original domain (leftypol) and made another server to replace the "original" server that was taken by the rogue mods.

I would consider leftypol (this place) to be the legitimate leftypol and the leftychan site to be a rebel site run by a couple of wreckers, but that view may vary depending on who you ask.

The other website is leftychan (dot) net but it gets wordfiltered here to lower their traffic. When they split off they cloned all the website data so it's identical up to the split, and after that the posts and some of the website's code diverge. Leftychan.org just redirects here IIRC.

We copied the content from leftychan (originally leftypol) to provide a basis for our new/old site yes. However they have diverged in the last 2 days will continue to do so.

People can use both websites if they choose though I would hope you pick us ultimately.

There is some ideological difference with leftychan attempting to do some kind of semi-incoherent 'democracy' that also gives ultimate control to the admin. They also think we're all radlibs and we think they're too soft on nazbol and conservatism.

I believe we will prove in the end to be the superior choice.

A lot of the pictures and shit are the same because the leftypol (this place) team started using a backup copy of the server contents or something, it was like a time capsule from last week and a lot of thread continued from there.

Leftychan seems to ban avatarfags and soyjaks but according to the mod logs they stop moderating for long periods of time (3 or 4 hours)

Different ideologies?
They're both "leftist" boards, make of that what you will.

Which one is cooler?

The old posts will get bumped off the board eventually but we made a lot of effort to import them because otherwise the place would feel empty and everyone would be sad to lose their posts. It would definitely make people upset.

Remember you can always use a different theme on each site to help you to keep them straight. IE a dark theme on one and light on the other.
