Why? How long until we need a leftypol pass?

 No.13668

What is this designed to prevent exactly?

It successfully stopped a flood of automated board spam.
It's been used occasionally for the past 4 months, it's not new.

I like the captcha colors more because it doesn't hurt my eyes looking at it

captchas a psyop. i swear i enter them correctly and they say "incorrect". big tech gaslighting.

 No.13678

>>13669
Yeah the captchas are kinda shit

 No.13679

Captcha's been acting weird, a few minutes ago it wouldn't generate any, but I still got the "captcha didn't load" message, it took longer for this to be fixed on /meta/ than on /siberia/

I think captcha shouldn't be used, BUT f you're gonna use one use the same system that 4chan is currently using, since it's much more user friendly.

>I think captcha shouldn't be used
I suppose it's a complement to the mods that you think that, but bot spam can easily post 24 hours a day, multiple posts a second. There is no feasible way a small group of volunteers already dealing with a designated raid group of ex-users, daily /pol/ gore spammers and CP advertisers are going to deal with that. And there's no way the userbase is going to dilute or ignore that level of shitposting.
What system does 4chan use now, and what makes it more user-friendly than typing 6 letters? I haven't used it since they were doing the Google 'select images' crap.

 No.13687

>>13684
I think that captcha should be used during spam raids or during periods when most mods are going to be asleep

Go to 4chan trash and just click on reply and just make a random post in a random thread, the captcha works for 10 minutes at a time, is easy and fast, and doesn't give errors.

Soon, mods are already talking about implementing "approved posters", just like on reddit.
> I suggested some time ago something like a "raid mode", basically people that have not posted for 5 days in a row or so (so usual posters) can't post for a while, a white list to filter raiders.

proofs?

 No.13720

>>13719
well, you can see in the linked post the anti-proof
it is taking something out of context that as far as I can see was not posted by a mod.

That is the case now pretty much. Only as much as needed

You gotta line up two images to reveal the 5 characters that you have to write. It's a fun little puzzle but a bit more time-consuming, imo. This is miles better than Google capshit too.

 No.13743

The post you cited was not made by a staff member.
Mods are not talking about implementing such a system.

Thank you for explaining.
One hurdle with fancier captchas is that we want the site to be accessible to users who don't use JavaScript. I believe it should be simple and harmless to increase the expiry time and simplify the puzzle.
The configuration options suggest there could be a 'sessions' feature using a cookie to prevent you having to solve for every single post. We can look into that.

>>13687
It is currently only enabled during suspected bot raids. We're aiming to recruit new janitor staff very soon, so hopefully there won't be times when 'the mods are asleep'.

*thumbs up*
>we want the site to be accessible to users who don't use JavaScript
True, it's just the number of times errors pop up in the past make it quite inconvenient at times.
>configuration options suggest there could be a 'sessions' feature using a cookie to prevent you having to solve for every single post.
chulo
>currently only enabled during suspected bot raids.
Oh good, I'm glad no "pass" bullshit is real too.

I should add that sometimes you don't have to do the puzzle thing and it just gives you a normal image but I don't know why or how this works

 No.13753

>>13752
The puzzle thing is for every hour on the site I think and the normal lettering is for every 10 minutes or so.

going to use this thread to ask wtf is up with the cloudflare shit. it's been impossible to post from my phone or via tor (clearnet and hidden versions) for days. have to post via terminal now, it sucks balls
a captcha is preferable to this shit

I had bought a bunch of domain last January after space purged us from bunkerchan.xyz.
>>13776
Someone has been spamming CP for the last few weeks through tor. We are closing tor posting when we feel there isn't enough of us to catch it quickly until we recruit more mods.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

It seems your IPs are blocked when the cloudflare "attack" settings are higher than medium, which is the case for the main domains used.

any idea what group is doing this?
could you enable captcha for .onion posting maybe? shadowbanning via a cookie, ETag or LastModified should also be possible, even on a .onion
>It seems your IPs are blocked when the cloudflare "attack" settings are higher than medium, which is the case for the main domains used
probably because I'm on phone internet at the moment, which means many subscribers sharing a smaller set of IPs
oh and
mods = gods

Not a mod, but could it be the same people who spammed leftychan's /i/ board?
