Please tell me you morons aren't actually considering adding an Invasion board.

My bad, that shouldn't have been included.

>"A; Make a public announcement about the idea;

>1.. The filter is good because it prevents spam and would-be raids and other types of shit posts.

>2. /i/ will generate continued growth.
>3. The article in circulation is going to generate eyes and curious newfriends/fags
>4. Point out that the filter and /i/ will result, possibly, in a harmonious growth of quality and quantity due to traffic from the
article, /i/ and filtering."

Other mod here, I retracted that. That part was the opinion of one mod which was accidentally copypasted and is facing strong opposition. Consider it a long-term discussion idea only.

What's the point of this sticky then? Creating "hype"?

NTA but probably starting a push for increased transparency. As evident, there's been a bunch of fuckup on that part and most mods aren't happy about how we collectively handled this.

Yeah I guess it was a bit dumb to post this when some of the entries are classified. I dunno, I'm dumb sometimes. But yes we are trying to be more transparent (and also this topic is handy for us to refer to)

do we have a formatting page anywhere? if not that would seem like something that could be done quite easily. if so, it should be made easier to find.

(also while /i/ will probably get disproportionate attention now and it's already been dealt with, i remain narcissistic enough to give my view: i don't see why invasions, if desired, can't be conducted from /b/, and i would question if the site is actually big enough to pull off sustained invasions of anything much bigger than the former Bunkerchan. [not that we ever really did, that's just a convenient size comparison.])

Make an algorithm like ROBOT9000 (4chan) or Samba (2ch) to detect duplicates and spam maybe.

>>

 No.6493

>>6491
That is the argument. It gets to the point it's difficult to post any images because of the catalog/thread size and board speed combined locks out hundreds (thousands?) of them.
>>

 No.6494

>>6493
Please reread my post and notice I didn't want an exact duplicate of ROBOT9000. Mods mentioned anti-spam measures and I presented some alternatives.
>>

 No.6503

I remember we were talking about making the based news front page collapsible, I'll see how that's going.

>>6489
Are you saying detecting duplicate posts?
There is a ROBOT9001 implementation already in the imageboard, but I'm not sure if turning it on is a good idea… Maybe as a temporary antispam tool, but it's extremely easy to evade.

>>6487
Good point. That page is missing and the rules page is a broken link.

I'm drafting up an FAQ page now, which will include a post formatting guide.
It will also include:
>where to ask further questions
>summary of site features (such as link to search, cytube, themes, options)
>summary of related sites (booru, GET)
>file formats, file-size
>ways to help improve the site, add banners
Anything else I should add? What took you a while to discover, or confuses you?

>>6750
Do you mean animated thumbnails, playing even before you click it? We get raided a lot, so I'm not sure if that's something we'd want.

Looking mostly OK to me but not sure what is the point of /b/ if you are going to explicitly require some form of quality control in 'global rules'
>>

 No.6819

>>6818
That's a good point, I kept the title as is and didn't really think about it. Would it be fine if it just said "Rules" or do you think /b/ should be explicitly mentioned as a low-quality board?
>>

 No.6820

*low moderation, not low quality
>>

 No.6821

By the way, this is not a change to the rules. That's basically just the Manifesto copy-pasted.
>>

 No.6822

>>6820
seconding this. mods should relax a bit when browsing /b/. leftypol is still imageboard. people will shitpost one way or the other.

this got me thinking whether global rule should address the issue of tone policing. There are few probably one peculiar faggot posters who write polemic blog posts belittling other posters flashing their credentials on science or technology related topics. Sausagefest like this would have been handled rather roughly on fullchan's other boards but I think leftypol can handle this better. I wonder if these kinds of 'effort posts' should be considered to be bickering or valid banter during normal 'imageboard' discourse.

This is why it shouldn't have been called /b/. I've been saying it since mods were considering making an off-topic board.

>Do you mean animated thumbnails, playing even before you click it? We get raided a lot, so I'm not sure if that's something we'd want.
Gifs kinda lose their effect without looping/autoplaying, do we really want to disable it just in case there might be a raid?
>>

 No.6851

>>6849
Looping? Sure. Autoplaying? Not really.

Append this to the bottom of your User JS (see [Options] in the top right, click User JS and go to the bottom of that resizable text field)

/* Replace .gif's thumbnails with the .gif itself */
var thumbs = document.getElementsByClassName('post-image');
for (var i = 0; i < thumbs.length; i++) {
if (thumbs[i].parentNode.href.endsWith("gif")) {
thumbs[i].src = thumbs[i].parentNode.href;
}
}

>just in case there might be a raid

It's a regular occurrence, there's no 'if' or 'might'.
