should communists celebrate halloween?

Yes

there is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

There is a spectre haunting…

Obviously

Kids are bourgeois, sucking our surplus for no work.
Damn brats, stop knocking on my damn door.

>>578983
its an inherently working class holiday teaching kids the value of community and camraderie
compare this to the trunk or treating shit thats been growing, in which you and other wine moms drive your kid to the private school parking lot to toss candy at each other and gossip for 5 minutes then go back home

I'm not celebrating it because I have no friends.

>Kids are bourgeois
>Damn brats stop asking for candy

Halloween is a farce.
It's a holiday that exists on the last day of the month for one day and takes place after sundown.
And Halloween rarely falls on a weekend.
Halloween would be better if it was during the weekend rather than the last day of the month

All holidays and festivals will be abolished under bommunism.

Communism will be a long holiday, an everlasting festival.

Sure. Free candy for kids is about as innocuous a holiday as you can get. It's also a great opportunity to show off your cosplay and disgust the general public

In a pagan way and/or for the sake of organizing, sure.
Politically motivated asceticism is lifestylism. If people did that for stuff like FOSS we wouldn't have proton/wine and windows would still be relevant in current year.

☝️🤓 Lowkey opposition to Halloween, Christmas and holidays in general among some communists and leftists isn't related to "political asceticism", but rather to the tendencies of anti-foundationalism, aufheben obsession, distrust of all cultures of the old world, and the general desire to abolish the current state of things.

Halloween, whether seen in its current mainstream commercialised form, as a religious Christian holiday or as a cultural holiday of Celtic peoples, still falls into the same category as things like Ramadan, Diwali, Chinese New Year and what have you: an arbitrary date with arbitrary practices and aesthetics contingent on some specific culture (that itself may be already dead). It's thus in these peoples' crosshairs.

Well semi-arbitrary, think halloween at least marks fall harvest, like the crops will go bad or something if you don't get them by around that time of year, if my understanding of crop harvest times is sound.

appropriate it as a costume party I suppose, although there is no consensus I prefer an atheistic communism and paganism is another religion

Another practice* but fair.
