A lot of women wanted to keep the traditional gender roles while also gaining more opportunities for themselves while a lot of women wanted to give up a lot of the supposedly male obligations while not picking up any of the supposed female obligations. By male obligations I mean things like being the primary breadwinner and doing house repairs and car maintenance and female obligations being cooking and cleaning and general child rearing if children are present. Also a lot of people of both genders are not being taught to be functional adults.

The feminist movement has always kind of been a psy-op. It's supposed to be against the patriarchy and revising the old gender roles, but almost always winds up just being "man bad, woman good." It's actually kind of an old meme at this point of some young person discovering feminism and getting excited because they think the traditional gender roles suck, only to realize when they get into it that it's just the she-woman man-haters club.

The MRAs/MGTOWs/Red Pill/Manosphere garbage is just a contrarian response to this and is even more fucking stupid for being this way. The Manosphere should get props for taking it to the next level and not even knowing what masculinity even is and assuming that it has something to do with being an asshole. Part of me thinks that it's a psyop too, but another part of me thinks its too dumb to even be a psyop.

People judge their social status relatively, not absolutely. Mediocre men used to have one thing going for them: not being women. This is no longer the case.

Much of the bitterness you'll see ITT rests, fundamentally, on that. Anyway, the men who fall into it are too stupid to find an alternative status game to play. (It doesn't have to be much! Even speedrunners manage not to fall into this trap because "can beat games really fast" is something that can give someone a sense of status)

Feminism as a theory and ideology is completely inconsistent and incoherent. Put 10 feminists in a room and ask them a question and you'll get 11 different answers. The closest that you'll get is the vibe that the general feminist movement follows, and that vibe is "man bad, woman good." If you ask a feminist what they believe, they'll probably say something about fighting the patriarchy, but self-professed feminists can be some of the Patriarchy's strongest soldiers if the Patriarchy is, in this instance, following the logic of "man bad, woman good."

Feminism can be defined as the study of patriarchy and its reproduction (you agree it exists in some capacity, right?). Therefore it often discusses the social role of women, that has mostly emerged as a way to control their reproductive capabiilities and signal their gender, but also the way in which these sex roles emerge. This is the interesting part, because many men and women alike act as their enforcers by way of a more broad conception of normalcy. In theory this would means movements that try to abolish gender for the benefit of women and the female sex, like forms of political lesbianism, would try to rehabilitate both men and women into a post-patriarchal way of life. In practice though men have a far higher stake in the preservation of sex roles and their identity and self-worth are heavily tied to developmentally ingrained notions of romance and sexuality, wherefore most hetero males have zero interest in being redeemed and literal misogyny runs rampant even among gay men.
