I know a lot of people are gonna take offense to this but, I think the real reason for the educational crisis is that most adults think of education as a substitute for moral consciousness, technical skills, and social skills.
Teachers are plagued by this sentiment from the academic culture that blue collar skills are detrimental to children.
Childhood individuality is treated as narcissism
Worldliness in youth is seen as a disease.
Idealism and naivete are rewarded as proper youth behavior.
Academics want to mandate excessive abstractional subjects (philosophy, psychology,etc) as means to generate"critical thinking."
Speaking of which, that's another thing.
"Critical thinking" is a term thrown around to justify peddling useless subjects.
Wanna know what makes critical thinking?
Knowing how to fix your own car.
Knowing how to make meals from scrap.
Most education promotes "following your dreams." Teachers constantly harass kids about "what do you wanna be when you grow up"?
How can little tykes know what their future career aspirations when you don't allow them to play outside freely?
We live in an age where more kids spend more time in schools than any previous generation and most people born after the early/mid-1970s show declining executive function
They all made to high school and even got college under their belt.
Yet they cannot cook, clean, or have healthy platonic relations with the opposite sex without being an awkward shut in.
Yet, whenever students disagree or question the usual liberal sentiment, they're seen as evil
