I dunno, man. I got into it and started, actually, appreciating it after I ran my course with pretty much everything else I can think of. Everything else just sounds very formulaic to me, which, is not an issue. I am not trying to be pretentious about it. I still listen to that music. But I enjoy noise because of the unpredictable nature of it. That is why I appreciate noise.
Maybe start with Nurse With Wound: A sucked Orange. That is pretty easy listening as far as noise music goes. The best track on this album is
>A precise history of industrial music.
It's an acquired taste, I think. That's not a very good album, IMO. Merzbow is very very hit or miss, he has some interesting albums but his music can be (lol) grating because of how much of the timbre in his music skews towards long, drawn out passages of high frequency sounds.
I find stuff with more low end much more pleasant:https://youtu.be/966jssFL6jo
A lot of people tend to ease into it with stuff like this:https://youtu.be/euHoHdpGOa0
Merzbows better works also tend to not be as dry as Pulse Demon:https://youtu.be/eiuVMYohM58https://youtu.be/9SDv8VBrXao
Prurient is also one of the best noise artists out IMO, he's very popular with music nerds but they generally only listen to one or two of his albums, he has lots of great, very listenable stuff:https://youtu.be/AlkHY4ZfZeMhttps://youtu.be/3dgFykz0bNohttps://youtu.be/Q-tjzsHaSGM
He also has some of the most punishing releases in the entire genre:https://youtu.be/IPR56neZQjUhttps://youtu.be/v9GrnPQAjZA
There's also the harsh noise wall subgenre, which is like watching paint dry but can be a cool experience in and of itself:https://youtu.be/SfU_zlleVY0https://youtu.be/pk-TCmJ_Zh0https://youtu.be/wLzEgrHKxNMhttps://youtu.be/1uP_KPzWP6E
Te key is to realize it tends to follow the same principles and goals as other more accessible forms of chaotic or abrasive music, it's just a purer form of it.
There are many different flavors of noise, Pulse Demon is just one, I'd say it depends on what kind of music you tend to like to begin with or why you're interested in noise.
This song makes me horny, lol.
I never understood noise "music" but this sort of "noise rock" is really interesting, do you have more besides Sonic Youth?
I love that song, lol.
What's /music/'s view of Whitehouse?
Seems coincidental or just wrong. Even Discogs has different track lengths listed.
Cunts who water down noise to make it commercial and the retards that eat that shit up should be shot through the fucking head. Go make your own thread celebrating your tired counter-culture-by-the-numbers music profile.
This right here is exemplary shitnoise. La creme de la creme <3
wut you on about bro?
Wait, are you saying guitar amp feedback isn't noise """""""music"""""?
Step aside rock wimps, power noise has entered the chat
Not even close to Merzbow's best albums.
pulse demon is honestly his shittiest work, seriously. Its just a wall of noise hence harsh noise wall, but it was made in an artistically bankrupt era of merzbow, he had only his laptops and was traveling thus rushing. His other works are alot better imo
Video saved just in case
Im not totally into it, but i can see some of the appeal since i like electronic music like Autechre which can be somewhat like noise, especially later on in their career
