Things are heating up? edition
Previous >>2084300 https://archive.ph/DJ38d

Students and other citizens, sometimes joined with farmers, are regularly blockading traffic at this. Currently there's a 24h blockade going on in one of the Belgrade highway knots. Here's a live https://kamere.24sedam.rs/?grad=beograd&kamera=2&naziv=autokomanda-frans

From a class position, the students are mostly what you'd call middle class. Higher education was made less accessible to the workning class in Serbia and they make up some 10% of the students. It's interesting from another perspective, because the students are organizing via soviet like structures, their demands are very classically petty-bourgeois (uphold the state law and institutions!!) reflecting their class position. Students are practicing "consumerist" general strikes. They're not in the productive sector, but it's still economic pressure building up. Now they're blockading traffic in the busies knot. It's a disruption in the flow of capital in any case.

They've distanced themselves from the bourgeois opposition in Serbia's pairlament and have been called a color revolution by Russia and the EU! They have even distanced themselves from all European NGOs! It's like a 1968 on steroids - I think this really is a situation the situationalist internationale hoped to have lmao. As a cherry on top, the reactionary city of Belgrade is executing progressive policy (like free of charge public transport in the whole city of 2 mln peoole) in hopes of calming the protests down. Even the middle schools are in blockade! Like some 95% of univeristies are now in blockade. In the middle of it all, a retirement home burns down and kills eight people! It's utter chaos.

It is the duty of every Serbian/Yugoslav community to support and radicalise the general strikers. I know a lot of yugoslav students they are amenable to marxism. We CAN rebuild. Tito zive!

They're against NATO and the EU, retard.

i'm currently talking with my student colleague that are participating in the plenary sessions - and it's not looking great. Most of the students are liberal or chetnik - only a few are leftist.
I'm trying to push for free education, something everyone can get behind. But I fear that we are too late… The protests have evolved and the stupid fucking opposition has taken a hold of it and is using it as their tool.
For now it seems no progressive measures will be taken so here's hoping that the riots start anew and we can make demands such that the opposition cannot claim the movement (e.g. stop privatisation, no to EU, Kosovo to be reclaimed)

nothingburger class consciously speaking

>>2129207
What about one of the demands being that the state should raise the funding of the university If I understood that correctly. Would you consider that one as progressive. Also do you know how that demand was formed, since other demands seem to be, like the op said, petty-bourgeois.

Es ist vorbei

>>2130057
that demand was originally free education and it got pegged down because the students felt as though they were asking for too much (ridiculous)
now the demands have become more of a slogan for the opposition and the protests, and my estimate is that there is no room for new demands, and that we are going the route of shuffling the deck so to speak
it's no longer our fight, it was for a short moment but the liberal parasites were quick and now the trajectory has changes
not a bad lesson for the future tho

Vucic status?

What's the chance that Serbia retakes kosovo and the republic srpsk within a decade (2035) ? I heard most Serbians don't really want to reunite with Montenegro, it's a den of criminals like Albania they said.

Cucked
I wonder who's coming to his rescue first, East or West.

>>2129207
>stop privatisation, no to EU
What sort of attitudes are you seeing towards these issues right now? Is there any talk about "combating Russian influence" or any such nonsense? Imo the real litmus test for whether or not something is a colour revolution is its stance on privatization and geopolitics. If they're demanding neoliberal reforms and a harder turn to the West then it's probably compromised, or at least in imminent danger of this.

isn't bussyc already pro-west

>>2130460
He sorta plays both sides, which could be enough to make him a target for removal.

Even if the opposition party comes to power, the likelihood of recognizing Kosovo is extremely low. I mean, HTS didn’t let the Kurds establish their own country, and Milei at least has a basic stance on the Islas Malvinas/Falkland Islands.
就算反对党上台,承认科索沃的可能性也微乎其微,我是说,HTS也没有让库尔德建国,米莱在马岛上也至少有最基本的立场

Kosovo je Serbia

nista od toga ja mislim

>>2130469
Real question is, will Vucic sacrifice his ass lickers and send them to the headchopper, because they do more damage to him than he does with his pathetic showings.

>>2130127
Government collapsed. There's a feeling he's intentionally sinking the ship to have premature elections in April and win the majority again (with a new movement)

>recognizing Kosovo
who tf cares about all these fake balkan countries only yugoslavia is worth fighting for

>>2130098
E jebiga, smor

>>2130435
opinions differ, most popular belief is that Russia+China equaly bad as EU+US (because they vaguely support Vucic). Also because most of people see Serbia as exploited by both sides, but liberals of course want EU to take lead.
The question of Kosovo in the eyes of liberals is for the right wingers and clerical fascists - in other words if you are for integration of Kosovo you are automatically pro Putin conspiracy theorist who hates the LGBTQ.
The idea of anti privatisation remains in good favor, but without Kosovo it's impossible IMO.

Sad je vreme za samo kritiku i da ucimo lekcije kako da se integrisemo bolje u buduce proteste

>>2131364
Istina, ima pozitivnijih strana ovo u odnosu na ranije proteste

Some developments. Government promises to cut tuition in half. This is more concrete than the student demand of 20% increase in schooling budget. But it still has to be passed.
https://prl.org.rs/ogroman-uspeh-studentske-blokade-skolarine-ce-biti-smanjene-za-50/

>Siniša Mali announced that 12.01 billion dinars have been provided from the budget, which will halve the current tuition fees in higher education! With this, the students ensured themselves greater access to higher education, for which future students are certainly grateful.

>This kind of success is the first necessary step towards free education, which is a prerequisite for the children of workers and peasants to return to university classes, i.e. for higher education to be available again to all who decide to do so.
>Decades of neoliberal propaganda about how education is only for those who "deserve" it, attempts to introduce foreign universities co-financed by the state and similar scams are now quickly collapsing in front of the indomitable will of students.
>However, until the Government officially confirms the announcements of Minister Mali, and until the other demands are met, there is no giving up and no surrender! Support for students!

>>2132624
Its a surprising step in the right direction, hope we can get it to be free
Although I am skeptical about Sinisa fulfilling this point - more pressure should be applied
this is maybe a good time to start some agitprop against liberalism since we are still going in the direction of DOS 2.0

a funny situation is occurring - some western loyalists have emerged recently on twitter because it has been revealed that all of the computers used in the justice system in Serbia have been donated by USAid(s)

>Student/university protest
Nothingburger, I don't want to get all pol pot about this, but the intelligentsia will protest against any socioeconomic system that doesn't award them dictatorship for simply having gone to university and they're incredibly easy to manipulate because of it.

They will voice support for Marxism, Liberalism or Fascism depending on whichever one has more broad support as opposition, because each could support the idea that the intelligentsia are an underutilised political force by states that naturally exist to protect and empower capital over all else.

In the early 20th century they were Marxists because in a world of factories and mines they were confined to universities, in the mid-to-late 20th century they were liberals because they worked as "mind workers" which netted them larger salaries than the receding manual labour industries, in the 21st century they're fascists because they've actually managed to achieve dictatorship in the US but are, surprise surprise, finding out that people are less stoked about Elon Musk being psuedo-president making his case for why he should be richer still than when he was a dot-com baby tech daddy promising the Jetsons on Mars.
