This was ignored in the US thread because it's just full of shitposting at the time before a new thread version started and since this effects more than just people in the US and directly can effect leftypol special attention needs to be given.
> Earlier this month, the Senate passed the TAKE IT DOWN Act (S. 146), by a voice vote. The bill is meant to speed up the removal of non-consensual intimate imagery, or NCII, including videos that imitate real people, a technology sometimes called “deepfakes.” > As currently drafted, the TAKE IT DOWN Act mandates a notice-and-takedown system that threatens free expression, user privacy, and due process, without addressing the problem it claims to solve. > The bill contains no protections against frivolous or bad-faith takedown requests. Lawful content—including satire, journalism, and political speech—could be wrongly censored. The legislation requires that apps and websites remove content within 48 hours, meaning that online service providers, particularly smaller ones, will have to comply so quickly to avoid legal risk that they won’t be able to verify claims>This would likely lead to the use of often-inaccurate automated filters that are infamous for flagging legal content, from fair-use commentary to news reporting. Communications providers that offer users end-to-end encrypted messaging, meanwhile, may be served with notices they simply cannot comply with, given the fact that these providers cannot view the contents of messages on their platforms. Platforms may respond by abandoning encryption entirely in order to be able to monitor content—turning private conversations into surveilled spaces. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/02/senate-passed-take-it-down-act-threatening-free-expression-and-due-processTrump said in his weak attempt to hide it as a joke accidentally exposed the real purpose but it wont stop here and it wont stop with Trump either.
> The Senate just passed the Take It Down Act…. Once it passes the House, I look forward to signing that bill into law. And I’m going to use that bill for myself too if you don’t mind, because nobody gets treated worse than I do online, nobody. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/03/trump-calls-congress-pass-overbroad-take-it-down-act-so-he-can-use-it-censorThe Take It Down Act passed by the US senate if not stopped by the House will lead to the death of the internet outside of maybe Facebook, Xitter and Reddit. There will be no fediverse sites, no leftypol, no open source software that even a single American contributed to or anything, no z library, no internet Archive, no nothing because this law was designed to be abused and the usual it is disguised as something that would get bipartisan support. Trump out in the open even said he will use the law to silence dissent. Due to the Cloud Act that was passed in Trump's previous administration sites not hosted in the US will also be effected.
Unfortunately all that can be done is write to representatives telling them with all the formalities such a law will be used against anyone including themselves if not now it will in the future as administrations change and maybe threaten to file a class action lawsuit against the congress members who voted for it. Is the rest of leftypol going to sit with your thumbs up your asses and let this happen or are you going to do something about it? It is so widespread it's one of the rare cases it might not be a bad idea to get other people on other sites involved somehow.
>>2180296>Unfortunately all that can be done is write to representativesLOL
LMAO
THIS IS THE SAME SHIT AS THE "NET NEUTRALITY" MOVEMENT, THE ARTICLE 13 BULLSHIT. ALL THE LIBERALS DID WAS CRY AND PLEAD "PLEASE WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL MP AND BEG THEM NOT TO SUPPORT THIS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE"
Yeah PLEASE beg the bourgeoisie to not do something, fucking liberal faggots.

>>2180373You say that as if they aren't heavily guarded. Last time someone tried to kill members of congress not a single member was shot. Also be realistic, the use of violence is for a reason often brought up just a last resort when majority of people will see it as justified, otherwise it creates a reaction by those in power against said violence and they win over public opinion of obedience to their whims that leads to further oppression and less opportunities to do anything at all and no one left to even want to who can. Think of the dialectics ,you do not want the counter swing of actions to come in if it counters what you want to happen.
>>2180380Hi /pol/. The act will negatively effect you too.

When the internet goes down, I'm moving to China where they have their own internet networks with their own censorship, out into the Tibetan mountain range picking psychadelic mushrooms, herbs, growing weed and shooting People's Police to preserve my marijuana, psychadelic harvest and cultivation for personal use. I'm gonna be like rambo. Then Xi himself will come seek me out with helicopters and when they finally detain me they will pardon me and legalize all psychoactive substances for personal consumption and they will be produced under state management. He will ask me in very broken english about my story and how I ended up there. And I will tell him that Trump censored my internet, the only thing that keeps me away from this sick reality and that I've decided to take matters into my own hands and destroy the west once and for all. He will nod. Then reach out with his hand and ask in an accent "will you join forces with me?". And I will shake his hand like a normal person does, not a freemason kind of handshake.
We will then develop superhuman drugs, that make you immune to bullets, fire, and make you see visuals that are like game UI that will give you real life hacks. Hacks you would normally see in videogame shooters like spinbots, aimbots and such will become possible as Xi decides to place me in the some sort of thinktank for a chemical department in some laboratory. We will conduct experiments on religious people because they suck and are wrong. When we've created these enhancements Xi will deploy me in America where in a matter of 6 months of walking the US on foot I will have shot every government agent and political opponent with bullets made of the environment around me (a special gun will be produced with the knowledge obtained from drugs which will convert the environment around me into ammunition) and the drugs I've taken will allow me to recognize which person should be shot based on their micro expressions and body language in a matter of seconds. I will be able to tell apart enemy from foe in this drug induced state and will be able to shoot them before they have time to respond. I will automatically dodge any fire because the drugs will probably slow time down or give me extreme reflexes like in the movies. In 6 months I will have destroyed America, without any real intervention from China.
But then as the drugs wear out and Xi's people from the CPC come to rescue me, it will have been apparent that they only planned to use me and then dispose of me, for they know they have created a weapon far too dangerous to exist in this world. Not even nukes would be able to stop me. And I will have disarmed all of the US nukes by reading manuals and information on nukes at extreme speeds and learning like no man has ever before in the drug induced state in the labs I would have had been in China prior to all that - therefore I would have had superhuman knowledge because of the drugs developed.
As Xi would pull out a knife to try to stab me as I will have become tired, I would go super stoner mode (like a super Saiyan but with a word describing a funny drug reference). The next part of this text will come soon when the time is right. I am in a hurry now, I must prepare for a hike to China on foot, which won't be easy since I'm in Europe. Until then worry not, Trump's censorship will not last.
>>2180415Because actually doing something other than shitposting and LARPing is glowing? When has a single leftypol user done anything other than that? I don't recall seeing a revolution started that so many pretend they are involved in, i dont see any leftypol users charged with terrorist acts. What are you doing? Least you can do is something within legal limits.
>>2180481> If they do censor the internet which country should I move to?That only works for IP blocks. A ton of websites are either ran on American servers or server services or owned by Americans so moving won't bring them back.
>>2180642I am down with this. I welcome a return to some mode of communication where there's an intelligence barrier to participate.
Everything started getting real dumb real fast as soon as every retard had internet and their own platform in their pockets. We need to make it so not every fucking mouthbreathing moron can participate in the discussion.
But make no mistake, the internet is going nowhere. They NEED it to reach their stupid masses. Trump couldn't have happened in a world without internet. And he can't control the real media. Something needs to happen.
I am old enough to have hooked up my own 2400 baud modem to find BBSs before internet access was widely available. The internet was just coming into peoples' homes as I was becoming an adult. And about a decade later the internet wouldn't be somewhere you'd log on to, it'd be somewhere every random idiot just lived at all times. We need to go back to something that keeps the retards OUT. Shortwave radio is a great start.
>>2180914Trump himself says it is to silence people who say mean things about him. There is some speculation it is to outlaw online nudity entirely as Project 2025 planned.
>>2180961Internet access was pretty widely available in the early 2000s and it wasn't so bad like it is today. Today is result of the social media algorithms mass brainwashing people not because of wider access in itself. Using a computer doesn't mean you're more intelligent. Plenty of STEMfags are /pol/yps
>>2181014> Why do you worry, these laws don't effect you, it's meant for Palestine protestors and white nationlist.Entire sites can be shut down, that's why. Do you not realize how easy it is for anyone to report just any site and have it shut down if it doesn't respond in the short time period it's expected to? They only have to target it during holidays or when the moderators are away.
>>2180296Yep looks like it's yet another attempt to push a SOPA-like law again.
Funny, Maddox was right:

>>2181358They only cared about it when they weren't in power, now that they are on top they will use censorship themselves to block voices that they don't like. To the conservative/reactionary, hypocrisy doesn't matter so long at they get to be the ones in power.
Pointing out the inconsistencies of, sayChristians demanding religious liberty while wanting to deny that liberty to others doesn’t appear as hypocrisy to the Right, because they see this as a "war" to determine who will be on top of the hierarchy next, and so they will be hypocrites to win it.
For the record, I do think it's a good idea to write to your representative. At the very worst, you've wasted 20 minutes of your day; so fucking what? People on here will say "noooooo, you can't use the legal methods available to you!", but never actually say why you shouldn't use them; at best they'll tell you they don't work, the rest of the time they call you a liberal.
That said, writing to your representative alone is not enough. I'm not going to say what other methods you should use, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out what I mean. Ideally, you should be firing from all cylinders, using every single tool that's available to you to make your voice heard. Even if individually most of those tools don't do much, using all of them adds up.
>>2182450That is basically the point I wanted to get across. Potential lawsuit threats seem to be potentially effective even if you would expect they wouldnt, though one has to be careful not to make false claims or risk being sued back. Boycotts also may be good idea even if they tend to do nothing long term they do have effects that last a few months so if the timing is right you can cut off lobbyists from having as much money on hand when needed. I am still in process of finding a website that shows you financial connections, i recall seeing one but cant find it again.
>>2182605Didn't the US drop involvement in the Vietnam war in part because of how unpopular it was among Americans? Sure it was triggered because they were not doing very good in progressing but many wars the US carries on for many years. Politicians don't want to lose future voters and thus future lobbyist money which if that is the bigger source of cash they do start listening to the views of citizens. I know it sounds odd to think of it this way but politicians are not acting in interest of whole countries but their own personal interests so they will drop ideology if it doesnt any longer benefit them personally.
>>2182657At that point you may as well do both.
Call for the emotional impact and mail so when they stack the letters up for an objective measure that stack is tall.
