Whats happening down in Chiapas these days? From my surface understanding they seem pretty based, giving rights to the indigenous and stuff like that. I'd like to see them continue to thrive and fight in the future.

They make money selling coffee to buy medicine they cant produce themselves. When I read into it before they dont have prisons and make people do community service and make up with victims somehow.

Indigenous people doing autonomous communes in the mountains of Chiapas, following a broadly libertarian socialist (but not anarchist) form of organization
They restructured from a smaller number of larger autonomous municipalities into more numerous smaller & more close knit autonomous zones in the past year or two in response to growing cartel threats in the wider region, it's much easier to respond to threats when each settlement has its own autonomy to react as it needs
Many of the local communities "caracoles" remain closed off to non-locals too because of the threats of violence from outside groups
