The only successful peace talks this decade have been in Ethiopia and the Armenia aizerbaijan drama and that’s it. Every other one failed.
Syria is still fighting Assad forces, Sudan never saw peace after two years, Ukraine is well… Ukraine, Congolese peace talks with m23 haven’t worked for decades anyways, Myanmar is still a war zone after several attempts, the hamas ceasefire might aswell have never been called, India and Pakistan edge closer to atomic warfare each day, you get the point.
I hate referencing kurzgesagt but I will make a passing mention that they shared a similar idea in a video about modern wars. From the data they and several other teams on geopolitics have collected, modern wars end more often in a total victories (as in extermination or near complete withdrawal from combat) more often than in negotiations or deals.
Given the history of warfare, this is a shockingly new development as most subjugated societies and peoples normally lived to be enslaved or made citizens of a larger force instead of being shot dead without warning.
