The country and the continent may end up with more people than expected and are likely to go through this century without experiencing any significant declines in numbers. However, I didn’t really make this thread about these places as much as I wanted to comment on the legitimate unlikelylihood of population collapse.
East Asian tigers get way too much attention of being signs of human population collapse even though the situation for most East Asians is uniquely much more extreme relative to most other countries. You can tell me that most countries are experiencing demographic crises. You can also tell me that countries that voluntarily implemented population control measures and forced sterilizations and relocations are the most likely to experience demographic crises. Ffs, the belief that the human population will collapse is based mainly on the fact that china has one of the top ten lowest fertility rates internationally.
As you’d expect from a materialist viewpoint, the countries that didn’t try relocating massive numbers people to massive cities against their will, didn’t try sterilizing or forcing breakups in people’s social supports, and didn’t implement a fucking one child policy all never suffered issues with ageing crises or sudden and extreme losses in head-counts. In fact, countries that can be bothered to support families, people’s independence away from their work lives, and less urban communities (mainly the socialist states) never saw drastic losses in people.
