How do we feel about this? I'm not surprised but still pretty bummed out.

Last update didn't even let me disable the newest chrome-clone feature in about:config. This is why tailism is literally the worst tactic of all time. I hope you're all fucking ready for some more userChrome.css hacking!

The what

it was a long time coming. Mozilla has been cooked for years now, but it's also historically necessary for the last bastion of the free web to die so that Google will have nothing to get in the way of it becoming a monopoly. that's the only way forward to maybe having the web be actually regulated as a public utility instead of the situation we have now where any kind of standardization efforts are held up by volunteers and non-profits fighting against multi-billion dollar companies.

I don't update very often, so this change happened multiple versions ago and they already removed any about:config options for disabling it. This time they added a non-removable addon overflow button to the taskbar, that mimics the one already in chrome. Apparently it *needs* to be there for some Manifest V3 functionality to work. The only way to get rid of it is setting the ui element sizes to 0.

Chrome is even worse though. I can't even disable any of their shit, ever and imagine putting a NEW sign in the right click menu.

would that ever happen? the US is controlled by neolibs who have a special hatred for public services

> they added a non-removable addon overflow button to the taskbar
> mozilla has fallen

>make taskbar customizable
>add non-removable buttons
It's only more proof the firefox design team is run by wreckers. Desktop firefox mostly gets worse through small, incremental changes that make certain features harder to avoid, nothing quite so blatant as they did with the android port. Many old firefox users hated the australis ui, but i actually quite liked australis and was pissed about how firefox looks post-quantum. Now my userChrome.css has 100+ lines, needed to make the bloated, mobile-esque ui usable again.

You're a stronger man than me if you still have the patience for this shit, I can't spend two hours relearning definitions every time there's a new update

Edge is the fastest browser now anyways, that's what I'm going to

New browser time! :v
Been packwatching them since they depreciated the marquee tag.
The next thing will probably support jxl too.

Mozilla could announce right now that they're selling all their user data to gay porn companies so they can make customized porn of all their users and using Firefox would still be less cucked than using anything by Microsoft

Yeah edge is just chrome with a skin over it. I'd rather just use lynx until something new with CSS support pulls up.

>>25680
the US isn't going to do shit to regulate it

I will switch to a chromium based browser if there's a manifest V3 adblocker that works as well as uBlock Origin.

I use it at work and there's no shame in that. It's no worse than using vanilla Chrome.

historical necessity doesn't imply that it's probable that it'll happen, but the current state of things was never going to last.

both are worse
