>puts china on both sides
>doesn't put the usa on both sides
What did they mean by this?

 No.998

how modern are we talking? what does "pointless" entail, a bunk causus belli, or simply unnecessary loss of life?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Zanzibar_War
>The war, lasting less than three-quarters of an hour, is considered the shortest in recorded history.[58] Several durations are given by sources, including 38,[1][59] 40[60] and 45[61] minutes, but the 38-minute duration is the most often quoted.

A war where both sides failed to accomplish anything, leading to a waste of money, ammunition and human life

Lot of people in the Iran-Iraq war were irregulars who didn't always have full uniform.

Yep, there it is, the 8 year bloody war that pretty much defined my country and solidified the new governments rule, and by extension Khomeini's

Though currently looking at wikipedia now, it doesn't list China as one of the belligerents, which is correct since China never actually engaged in combat

 No.1010

This is actually the first time I even learn China had anything to do with Iran-Iraq war

Kinda ironic how our government is seeking help from people that also helped our enemy

Not true, the Iran-Iraq war was instrumental in solidifying the Iranian government's power and influence for decades to come

The Iran-Iraq war gained religious significance because of the concept of marty-ism in Shia Islam, So it became a religious war from the get go.
Even the names reflect it, "دفاع مقدس" ( religious defense ) .

 No.1013

>>1011
Also I kinda fucked up the translation there, its better to translate it as "The Holy Defense"

 No.1014

A little bit of context as to why the Iran-Iraq war gained religious importance, and thus drove thousands of people to the frontlines to be butchered:

In Shia Islam, a "martyr" is someone who dies for god, whether that would be dying fighting enemies of Islam or during any kind of religious duty.

Being a martyr is the highest and most noble form of death you can achieve, with all of your sins forgiven and going to heaven

So it doesn't matter whether you're a rapist, serial killer or a pedophile, if you become a martyr, you're getting a first class ticket to heaven with your sins now completely forgiven as if you've done nothing wrong in this world.

The nigerian civil war. Completely stupid, both sides were not even military but glorified cops for different oil tycoons.

Bit of a late response but I'm curious, are you religious? Do you think Shia Islam and socialism can be compatible? Are you using a VPN or does the government allow acces to this site? If you don't want to respond don't worry.

chechen wars. I get tactical locations but why 2 fucking wars for less than 1/300 of your land?

>are you religious?
No

>Do you think Shia Islam and socialism can be compatible?

I thought the whole point of religion was to assist the capitalist class in keeping their power?
As for your question, you might wanna take a look at Ba'athism ( though the ideology itself is secular )
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba%27athism#Role_of_Islam

>Are you using a VPN

No

>does the government allow acces to this site?

The only reason I'm allowed to access this site is because its under the radar of the gov, websites like 4chan are banned though

 No.1103

>>1092
Sorry for all these questions and this is mostly just my morbid curiosity speaking but aren't you scared of stating you're not religious here if this site is under the radar of the government? Or is it unlikely anything would come of that?

 No.1116

>>1103
>this site is under the radar of the government?
Sorry for any misunderstanding, English is not my first language

I mean "it flies under the radar of the goverment" as in "leftypol.org is not a popular or even known site to the government for them to even ban"

 No.1118

>>1116
Ahh ok, I see now. I had interpreted that as leftypol was known by the government but not seen as something to censor.
