That's not what your image says. It means they were inspired to break taboos, since yaoi themes were so popular at the time. They wanted to compete with it, and were not offended by it. You'll find few sexual taboos that actually offend otaku types.

Yeah, because straight men don't usually watch gay porn. However, you have the mistaken impression that they actually wanted Yaoi stuff gone rather than trying to compete with the unprecedented sales. Fujoshi have always been part of the climate at comiket and will continue to be so. Hell, some of the biggest participants and successes have ben all-female circles that specifically participated in the Yaoi fandom. Look at characters like Garma Zabi, who was instantly taken in by these groups, and entire franchises meant to appeal to females. Even ones that were shounen action appealed and continued to provide service for female fans. This idea that the lolicon movement in circles was somehow opposed to BL themes or yaoi is stupid. They are separate and both are liberating expressions of art. Sometimes it almost seems like the artist wants to shock the reader with taboo themes that do not produce an erotic reaction anymore. This is true for both yaoi and lolicon generes. I think this is a good thing, and I do not believe that either are pushing the other out. This false conflict that you are presenting is just that: false.

they like to wear radical fashions, all kinds of crazy outfits and styles. search japanese fashion subcultures you'll see some lists. and a lot of anime fashions inspired by the fashion subcultures of japan and vice versa so women see the wild fun outfits are to their taste and comiket a great excuse to wear them and that's the appeal.
