 No.12248

I'm looking for anime that was popular in the 80s to early 90s
Classics with a more bubbly appeal and look. Less sharp lines and a more 80s "Nagasaki" nuclear holocaust feel. Kind of like Akira. Hook me up.

I don't know what you mean by "bubbly appeal and look", OP. Or "Nagasaki nuclear holocaust feel".
Also I'm pretty sure there must be a thread similar to this already. You could've asked in the recommendations thread

The present sucks ass and anime has only gotten shittier over the years.

You don't need to be nostalgic to be on the lookout for old anime.

People like you are such faggots. I want to watch older anime cause I haven't seen it. Believe it or not the past, much the the present and future, has things to teach us and has good things. You simply have to put it all in context and perspective.

I enjoy 80s OVA's very much

Yes. Imagine claiming to like "anime" when the vast majority of it is blatant otaku-pandering coomer moe garbage with little to no substance or depth, made by overworked underpaid animators for the sake of selling more and not for the sake of telling an interesting story.

Mind you, that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the rare good anime every now and then, or even a trash anime that happens to appeal to me for some reason. It's just that when you consider that you dislike most of what has been released so far, you can't really say that you "like anime".

>>12278
It most certainly feels like it has only gotten worse, or at least more obvious, in the last two decades. Like it gets more and more detached from reality.

It's anime. It's always been detached from reality. The fantasy has just changed, and you don't like it because you're old and grumpy, or a teen who feels like he was born in the wrong era.

Read the fucking thread, retard >>12279

If you have to "search for the good stuff" to find something worthwhile, that means most anime is trash.

Oh and btw OP specifically asked for "anime that was popular in the 80s and 90s", of fucking course the recommendations are going to be "generic". Retard.

I think the series ran into the 80s, so it counts.
There is something very raw and visceral about the show despite its age.

There are a lot of ideas that get repackaged and vomited out over and over again. There is something that feels more escapist about it lately. It’s like there is way more playing into the viewers fantasies. That’s a problem not only in anime. I don’t mean to pick on it. You see the same issue in the film industry with these cookie cutter superhero films.

On certain online communities, yes, it's known as one of the best anime ever. But there are tons of different anime communities worldwide online and in real life (perhaps as many as there are anime series) and most of them are not familiar with it, from what I've seen.
