So aren't these anime basically just following the same formula as Seth Rogen or Adam Sandler movies which are considered by the public at large to be "normalfag" "cringe"?
Anime is hugely normalfag. It's quite literally so cheaply and perpetual you're supposed to forget you've seen it by the time the next season arrives. It's just wish-fulfillment, not necessarily cringe. Also, those movies might not be admitted to being liked by a certain group of pretentious adults, the box-office shows these same adults are still buying tickets to see said movies. While we're at it. Yes. Anime is cringe. It's just so unoffending that you don't recall it as cringe. Actual cringe anime make you pause the show, struggling to get through the lines as you feel physically repulsed to continue. Okada Mari is a good example of a writer who can actually make you feel the second-hand embarrassment with fictional teenagers that 'talk' through their problems and the situations they land themselves in. Cringe != normalfag.
>>14813Girl wants a fag for a boyfriend. Many such cases. Still fits into the NTR fetish fuel group. Actually the premise is so fucking retarded. "indulging in hobbies" is just making it sound less worthy of critique than it actually is.
>>14881I'm so glad I didn't grow up to be a neurotic like this.
>Girl wants a fag for a boyfriend. Many such cases. Still fits into the NTR fetish fuel group. This is gold.
>>14813>>>>>>>>>>>>>female fantasy shoujoSure thing. Maybe try getting out of your comfort zone and watch actual anime by and for women for once.
>>14882A completely average loser boy like the target audience meets a perfect gigastacy who also happens to be a weeb but in the exact way that the target audience wishes women were (so she has male coomer tastes, like playing eroge). The protagonist has a "girly" hobby which is sewing dolls, and the female lead is the only person he has ever met that doesn't judge him for it or something. Ecchi encounters involving hentai cosplay ensue. But somehow it's supposed to be """wholesome""" just because the guy isn't being perverted on purpose, and maybe also because the style looks shojo-like at first glance.
>>14920I'm getting conflicting information, but my answer would be "kinda". It's written by a woman although the original LN's demographic was "male". But overall I would say that's a good example since it's clearly not made to pander to otaku coomer males like the series featured in the OP.
There are much better or clearer examples of series created by and for women, though.
>>14925as far as i have noticed most manga/anime under the female demographic are focused on romance so maybe its under male because the default demographic in the industry is male and the story so far doesn't focus on romance?
>>14921i would def recommend it if you like slice of life and a medieval setting
>>14883what the fuck? which movie
>>15150we are the silent majority comrade
>>15218did you watch any random tv show that basically nobody actually watches and is just there to take time in the schedule of the channel ? you would be surprised.
anime just has a seasonal schedule for the marketing that makes it especially stand out because you basically end up seeing a glimpse of the majority of them because it's all neatly packaged and put on anime sites (like MAL),but I could throw a near endless number of movies and shows in your face if I wasted my time compiling them too.
>>15229 (me)
also,I don't mean by that that its good, infact it becomes nearly impossible to succesfully find what's actually good in the sea of thrash that's shown to you, whereas for movies you probably didn't even hear of them in the first place.
>>14882A girl that is into cosplay meets a guy has experience sewing clothes, styling wigs and emulating make-up because he's training to become the heir to the family workshop that makes traditional dolls. This last detail is important because one of the premises of the show is that he isn't less of a man because he's into unconventional fashion design, just like the girl isn't bad just because she works with her body
(or for being a sex worker, if you consider グラビア, a genre of japanese softcore porn, a form of sex work, as some people do). The fact that it is traditional dolls is also important because it undermines that idealized image of the past where "men were real men", which is only a projection of our current social expectations.
Bear in mind that many people resent both the manga/anime and the female author because it doesn't address reality nor the cliche fantasies that are commonly reproduced (sometimes "critically") in western media: her ideal boyfriend isn't really confident or assertive, and he's definitely not intimidating nor demeaning. If you pay attention to the critics, their point of contention is that her work is too self-indulging, both for men and women, and that it's unrealistic to actually like and eroticize non-toxic masculinity and non-toxic relationships.
