This is a thread for discussing, designing and creating zines, pamphlets, brochures, leaflets - anything that involves putting information on paper in a cheap and easy way. You can also discuss writing zines, but this thread will be largely dedicated to the design aspect.

Here are some resources:

Programs that you can use to make zines/pamphlets/leaflets and so on:

lainchan sometime discuss zines, including anarchist zines.
'good zines' - https://lainchan.org/lit/res/6099.html
'anarchist zines/etc.' - https://web.archive.org/web/20190802180435/https://www.lainchan.org/lit/res/2587.html
there may be more elsewhere on the board, could be good to learn what they do well and what they don't

It goes without saying that you don't have to make a zine from scratch, it also should be said that it doesn't need to be fancy (but it doesn't hurt).

Whether you're in a political organisation or not, distributing material and getting the word out is essential. Telling people to go visit a website or a social media page sometimes isn't enough, there's lots you can do with a physical material. You can go to a protest and hand out pamphlets, talk to people about its content, maybe even get the contact details of like-minded people for later organising. Or, if you're involved in Mutual Aid/Community service/Charity work, you can print out a bunch of pamphlets and distribute them - turn meeting people's immediate needs into an opportunity for political education.

Here are some short texts that could easily be put into a zine/pamphlet:
>Marx -Theses On Feuerbach (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1845/theses/index.htm)
>Engels - Principles of Communism (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1847/11/prin-com.htm)
>Engels - Socialism: Utopian and Scientific (https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1880/soc-utop/index.htm)
>Lenin - The Three Sources and Three Component Parts of Marxism (https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1913/mar/x01.htm)
>Mao - ON CONTRADICTION (https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/selected-works/volume-1/mswv1_17.htm)
>Mao - COMBAT LIBERALISM (https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/selected-works/volume-2/mswv2_03.htm)
>Einstein - Why Socialism? (https://monthlyreview.org/2009/05/01/why-socialism/)

Interesting, seems like there's some good looking stuff in there

Hm are there more modern sorts of stuff like this too?
like a rabbit hole/pipe-line, first 23 Things they don't tell you about capitalism then Graeber, then Fisher, then finally real shiet

ye for sure, maybe you could get some baby leftie vids, make it into a transcript, then put it together in a zine. I would think Second Thought vids would be good for something like this

This idea for a new commie symbol came to me in a dream, and while it isn't much by itself, I didn't want to forget it either, so here you people go.

risographs (riso for short) are relatively cheap digital printers with some cool colour capabilities
sometimes you can find one to rent as a service
serif affinity publisher and adobe indesign are good commercial software for windows and mac, you can find them out on the 7 seas https://thepiratebay.org
scribus seems like a good linux choice https://www.scribus.net/

It's something for sure.

Wage Labour and Capital is a good one too

I love the raw ink aspect. I've always wanted to recreate the clean look of the old foreign language press books (pic related). it definitely impresses upon you more when holding it physically i reckon - posters would look amazing as well. Only hang up is that the entire process seems like a pain in the ass when you're trying to mass produce stuff

they’re a midway between photocopiers and industrial printing, which is really all you need for zines

How do I pirate adobe illustrator?

Sleepyhead socialism

Adobe literally assumes you will pirate their stuff. It's part of their business model to assume students will pirate it to learn the skillset that they can then use when they get hired by a business who pays for the software or they buy a personal license.

Try 1337x.to
PirateBay's cucked.

apt-get install inkscape
