Every single game you are just killing Soviets or other evil Russians. The Soviet Union is pure evil in the games. I fail to see how this overrated dogshit series is “based”. The only game that’s actually based is Peace Walker since you are killing CIA agents instead of Russians like in literally every other game. Or in MGS4 when you get to kill Blackwater mercenaries but even in that game the US military are portrayed in a positive light. Hideo like most Japanese are massive cucks and suck USA dick. Most of the villains are actually based. Skull Face talks about how evil America is and how he wants to overthrow the Amerikkkan world order. Solidus is also based but these are supposed to be the “bad guys” for some reason.
As a devoted scholar of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism-Snakeism, I would say that while Big Boss was most definitely a revisionist, his legacy is ultimately that of an effective anti-imperialist revolutionary. While he would come to attribute an almost saintly reverence to his mentor The Boss, whose sacrifice led to his disillusionment with nationalism and imperialism, his most direct Marxist inspiration was his hero Che, who served as the inspiration for the man he would become once untethered from the US security state.
His most significant theoretical innovation was his recognition of soldiers as a distinct class within the greater superstructure and with interests and an experience of exploitation distinct from but related to that of the proletariat, simultaneously both a class and a form of commodity. In his ideology, it was soldiers who must liberate humanity through the ownership of their own labor, as it is their skills and sacrifices that facilitate the endless brutality of empires and nation-states.
While he seemed largely uninterested in the plight of workers, he sought a world where soldiers controlled the means of war, and in pursuing this goal, oversaw the establishment of not one but four of the most successful socialist experiments of the 20th century. Significantly, all of these pseudo-states became nuclear powers, and were phenomenally successful at achieving gender equality, high living standards, and near autarky, all while maintaining an internationalist ethos that inspired loyalty across dramatic barriers of language and ethnicity. Under his benign dictatorship, soldiers from the Red Army, the Mujahideen, the Sandinistas, the MPLA, and UNITA broke bread and found brotherhood, living harmoniously by an ethos of from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
His life and struggle were not without errors. Like many great leaders, his choices of lieutenants were often lacking, including the capitalist roader Kazuhira Miller, who would ultimately betray him to the imperialists. The less said about the pathetic traitor Huey Emmerich the better, but while he escaped justice for his gravest transgressions, is getting cucked by your own son and then drowning in a swimming pool really an escape? Despite his fanatical loyalty to Big Boss, the harm wrought by the Soviet defector Revolver Ocelot to the cause of MLMS is also indisputable. Upon his introduction to the regime, the systematic use of torture became commonplace, and his personal sadism and duplicity played a large role in destroying the atmosphere of trust and comradery that had defined the MSF.
However, most Marxist historians dispute Big Boss's responsibility for these crimes, as arguably the worst human rights abuses occurred under the direction of the imposter Venom Snake. Western liberal ideologues continue to claim that this "phantom" was nothing more than propaganda, but after the defeat of The Patriots in 2014, their extensive records were opened to scholarship for the first time, and proved conclusively that there was indeed an imposter presiding over Big Boss's African territories in the 80's and 90's, albeit with some degree of collaboration with the man himself.
It is unfortunately indisputable that Big Boss did authorize the conscription and deployment of child soldiers, and while Marxists should not downplay or excuse this grave lapse in morality, I believe it is vital context to note that Big Boss was himself a child soldier, and fought in the Korean War when he was only 15. Big Boss could also never fully escape his complicity in the formation of The Patriots, who blew up all his Metal Gears, cloned him three times, and then killed him and all three of the clones. As with Noriega, Bin Laden, or Saddam, the US empire often displays its greatest sadism when punishing a former ally.
Altogether, despite these stains on his legacy, serious Marxists today ought to recognize Big Boss for his extensive contributions to the immortal science of dialectical materialism. The entire world owes him gratitude for his decisive defeats of the arch-reactionaries Hot Coldman and Skull Face, as well as the rogue Brezhnevite princeling Yevgheny Borisovitch Volgin. We must acknowledge that Mother Base, Outer Heaven, and Zanzibar Land were all exemplary models of Actually Existing Socialism, and heed the lessons of both their triumphant rise and their ignominious collapse. Anarkiddies infatuated with the adventurism of Philanthropy and its ethos of "Let the World Be" are pollyanish at best and fail to reckon with the indescribable pressures exerted by the forces of imperialism to subvert Big Boss's noble aims.

>>36874MGS4
and in MGS5 you spend half the game killing UNITA
>>36873Ok, but after part 1 snake decides to live life on his own terms and break free from the sins of his father. And correct me if I'm wrong, weren't the soldiers subjected to gene therapy Americans? Liquid makes a big fuss out it during his speech, noting that the thousands of genetic defects incurred after the Gulf war were genetically identical to both snakes and the FOXHOUND soldiers. The only Russian involved was ocelot and he was a triple agent anyway.
Furthermore, this is why in the beginning of MGS2 Snake rocks a tranquilizer gun in his kit, as he's disavowed senselessly murdering others. And once again, the big bad Russian, Olga, ended up with the face turn at the end when it's revealed she was coerced into joining the simulation or having her daughter killed. This is also why Raiden is forced to fight Solidus Trump, because if he dies, olgas child dies.
The only game where there's any real distinction between Soviet and western soldiers - I'm not counting five, that game sucks and I never beat it - is 3, and that's only because it's set during the full swing of the Cold war, off the heels of world war 2. In the end you realize the antagonist only betrayed the West for the sake of the mission, and it was her real dream to unite the world, knowing she would die a villain that secretly saved the world.
Once again, aside from ocelot and volgin the rogues gallery of villains are pretty much all western. Zero created the AIs, the patriots played everyone like pawn pieces, and at every step of the way zero was there looking for big boss.
>>36586The corny Jesus movies are bad movies because they're lazy cashgrabs, not because they're ideologically motivated (they're actually not. hint: lazy cashgrab). Birth of a Nation is one of the most technically innovative and influential films ever made, and it was made by a true believer in the lost cause of the Confederacy. Gone With the Wind is also a film about romanticizing the slave plantation South, and is considered a classic. I want the Marxist version of
that.

>>36887 said, the soldiers you fight in Africa aren't communists, but on the contrary were literally supported by the CIA during the Angolan Civil War, and I think that's the beauty of it all: the game starts like Call of Duty where you fight the evil Ruskies, then during the second part you switch sides like it's no big deal, it's offhandedly mentioned during the initial briefing and not hammered into the head of the player, but it's apparent enough to anyone who has some knowledge of the history of the Cold War or browsed /leftypol/ for a little while.
MGS always had the following message:
war is a business.
In MGS2 and 3, Raiden and Big Boss are nothing but pawns for the powers that be and their obscure motives.
Most characters who fight are mercenaries who don't have strong ideological convictions but only seek to gain power by playing whatever side they can. In MGS1, Liquid Snake sides against the USA not because he believes in the superiority of Marxism-Leninism but only because he wants the body of Big Boss and money. In MGS5, you fight both sides only in order to develop the logistics of Diamond Dogs to further your own goals and ultimately fight Cipher.
MGS is ultimately
anti-war and seeks to show the player that if they ever become a badass mercenary like Snake in real life, they will be used and discarded as soon as they stop being useful to their masters.
There are never clear-cut heroes and villains in MGS, everyone is pursuing their own interests before inevitably failing or being betrayed in some way or another. Everybody is a pawn and everybody eats shit.
>Also rightists love this game and wear the Outer Haven patches because they are based anti communists.I never saw any evidence of this, but who cares? Right-wing gamers thought Disco Elysium was a based and redpilled satire of socialism (and in many ways it is) then got assblasted when the developers paid homage to Marx and Engels.
>>36586>>36640It's so tiresome. As if a company like Konami would have approved the release of a game where you fight for the wholesomerino communists against the evil US imperialists for pure ideological reasons, right after the collapse of the USSR. It makes absolutely zero business sense. Like war, making video games is a business.
>>36889In Peace Walker, you also briefly help the Sandinista at the beginning of the game, and Big Boss expresses admiration for Che Guevara, but again, Big Boss is jaded about politics and admire Che as a fighter and revolutionary, not because of his ideological convictions. Big Boss fights solely because that's the only thing he is good at.
>>36893>“Anti war” literally means nothing. What am I supposed to get from this? Do you believe like Truffaut that no movie and by extension no video game can be anti-war because by depicting war, you are ultimately glorifying some aspects of war in the process instead of solely depicting the misery it causes? Or do you mean something else, that war is nothing but a form of conflict and that conflict is inevitable, therefore being against conflict doesn't make any sense?
You and
>>36891 remind me of why I rarely post on imageboards anymore: I take the time to type a post in order to explain some shit, and all you say in response is "no you are wrong" with zero explanation. There is no discussion, no opposite point of view for me to understand, nothing to be gained.
I haven't seen that Clint Eastwood movie and I have no interest in it either.
What's your point? Why "anti war" literally means nothing? I can't read your mind, anon.
