Yeah I've always found them cool too. The Spoise Morines don't have an equal enemy to fight like these would be. But as for their effectiveness, it depends on a lot of things. They'd still be as vulnerable as any other big spoise morine to guided mortars, drones and remote explosives. Do the Krorks have a real ideology or are they just fighting for fun like Orcs? I know they were invented by the forerunners but that doesn't explain what their motive might have been. Motivation is one of the most important things in war, second only to logistics (which is why the normal Orcs make no sense, only the most advanced waghs seem to have the political and economic development needed to make modern firearms. Slave factories could only really happen in these states. Most Orcs live in 'barbarism' where their class system is basic, derived from who is the most voilent, and their political centralization is weak. They don't have the organization to keep slaves en masse for industrial work. In history slavery could only really happen when states and advanced political organizations came to be, before then it was always an ad-hoc thing mostly for prisoners of war because there was not the organization needed to keep more adult slaves than there were slave owners).

Logistics seem to never be a problem for Orcs and always a problem for the Imperial Guard when it should be the other way around. Kroks probably do have good logistics though. I do just really wonder about their ideology.

I always imagine the Krorks being like the Zentradi from Macross. Like they have really massive fleets and advanced technology but because they were entirely created as war machines they don't care about it, their stuff is falling apart because they don't maintain it and they just use it until it breaks and the spaceship printer makes another really big amazing battleship which will soon inevitably break down itself and there's no engineers to say whats going wrong. Maybe Orcs all along just needed protoculture, I mean actually thats not too far fetched, unironically maybe Orcs just need a bit of love and an introduction to classical music. Or a space idol singing Japanese pop music. I'm certainly going to go "protocultaaaaa" when I die. Or maybe "Kono… Powa… *englufed by white light as it cuts to mech exploding*".

This is making me think, after reading Crossed, what would like a modern army made up of churchfaced look like? I mean the smart ones in +100 not a random infected group with a tank thats not really organized enough. Like a really smart, advanced and well supplied modern military force who act 100% professional all the time and who are only out to cause as much death and destruction as possible. Maybe Krorks would be like that. Actually now that I think about it that's basically the IDF.

That quote about the crossed is on point. The Krorks in lore should have the same level of fanaticism as the crossed, but the hyper intelligence and self discipline of an evolved green skin. Hell, even the crossed in +100 were capable wielding artillery and trucks to cause mayhem. Imagine the firepower capabilities of mechanized krorks.

Considering krorks were fucking up necrons for millions of years, maybe…

Side note, I just want to state that it’s likely that dark age humans and Krorks are likely the reason for why the tyranids even bothered invading the Milky Way galaxy. The departure of the Krorks is unknown. Additionally, it is implied that most Kronos had access to the warp and psychic powers in the lower, which is why normal orcs have been seen to carry psychic energy and even become capable of using warp energy in some of their more advanced weapons.
It’s likely that the krorks at some point had developed their societies so much that they ended up leaving the milky way for their orcish descendants. Then, the krorks went on to distant galaxies to torment and purge other species for their own amusement. The tyranids were one of these species.

The reason why it would be specifically the krorks is due to the fact that they would be in closest proximity to the tyranids, because the Krorks originate from the Milky Way.
