I don't like cozy games or games that are to aesthetically "cute". I'd rather spend my time on a game where I can be a cool military soldier (even if the genre sometimes could be propagandistic). Or anything with a power fantasy in it like Doom or Elder Scrolls. My kind of escapism is typically action oriented, and this stuff just doesn't fit me or my self perception. Stuff that's realistic is more for me.

I can see the appeal of relaxing games though.

I don’t like power fantasies or utopian escapist games. I do enjoy action oriented games like you said. However, I find more grounded and realistic games to be much more enjoyable. Games like arma, insurgency-lites, and RTS games are what I find fun. Power creep isn’t fun without limits.

I don't have much of an opinion on the action vs comfy dichotomy, but I really prefer games that put more emphasis on game mechanics and emergent gameplay over scripted/narrative content. A lot of it feels like pushing the medium more toward movies or TV and ignoring what makes it unique.

Bring back early 2010s’ piss filter and gritty semi realism!

I don't understand the point in those kinds of games. You know anyone can start planting things for not a whole lot of money, either wait for an alotment or just start planting in an unused bit of dirt. In general I think art should be passionate, and Stardew Valley just did not make me feel anything (and I especially didn't care for the NPCs). Comfy art rejects conflict (dialectics) and just has everything going fine. That's not to say you can't or shouldn't have art that is comfy but that is different from comfy fantasy or these comfy simulator games, there is Comfy-Art and Comfy. I hate Stardew Valley and all these other ones because they are nothing games, they are games for people who don't actually want to engage in the medium.
