I am firmly convinced that the majority of Syrians and Iraqis were at least partially okay with it. Always found it sus how we witnessed the most savage entity with proof of barbaric acts and how quickly it has been forgotten. You keep hearing about Tianamen (which was a big nothingburger) and other mild stuff but this concentrate of atrocities had a few documentaries on it in 2013-2016 and then nothing.
Truly sickening how slave markets, rapes, beheadings, child soldiers etc have been minimised, all to focus on getting rid of Assad.
Never forget.

Majority of Iraqis are Shia so I'm sure they were very much not okay with it.

They were transphobic which is why the west supported them.

I think a large chunk of people maybe the majority wish to become the slaver and be the one holding the whip and ordering others around. That's a big reason the majority of the people of the world produce children at least I think so. Also when people take over and start doing very heinous shit most people start listening to them. Most people appreciate power and will subvert themselves to it even if it's unfair to the majority since we usually want someone else to make decisions for us especially when it comes how a society is to be run

As an Iraqi I <3 unpopular multinational mercenaries propped up by foreign capital and my own state (which it claims to fight it) in order to distract from the class enemy within, destroy infrastructure to create investment opportunities and delay the crisis of overproduction prolonging bourgeois rule

>>2277556
The Iraqis were grifters in leading positions. The majority were foreign fighters followed by 16 year old brainwashed Syrian larpfags

>>2277558
there were Many foreign fighters but they were not the majority

Your bait isn't working, ISIS was the reason millions had to flee those countries, you could make the argument that they didn't pose as much resistance as one could expect but if speaking against them would get me and my family beheaded I'm heading the fuck out

multiple things can be true at the same time, morons

>>2277534
I'm still flabbergasted by liberals are okay with head choppers and think this is somehow better than Assad.

>>2277586
These Al Qaeda folks just took lessons from the Taliban in doing the whole "Oh we're actually more moderate now y'all, we swear" dance and show, except unlike the Taliban, these Al Qaeda folks actually succeeded in convincing the West that it's the case.

Probably helps that unlike the Taliban, the Al Qaeda folks are more aligned with the political and material interests of the West.

>>2277596
>why are western backed mercs depicted as moderates in western owned media
a true mystery

>>2277596
IIRC, didn't Taliban fought ISIS at one point?

>>2277540
powerful analysis comrade

>>2277596
Didn't he say something like "oh, I was young." I don't know what Sharaa really believes, but it makes me wonder how much jihadi stuff can be like fashion or a youth fad. Like I'm in America and there are Arabs on leftypol who talk about them like our teenage larpfags and I think they've got a point. But it can also go "out of fashion" really fast.

>>2277607
So did Al Sharaa. I think another factor in this is that the West (and Turkey) doesn't want any more refugees and he was keeping several million Syrian bottled up in Idlib.

>Always found it sus
I found you sus.

>>2277596
because al-qaeda is a true representation of nato, turkey spearheading it. the Taliban had a tiny wish of self-determination.

>>2277793

>>2277602
there were many westerners but the majority was still local lads
it was a pure Sunni fanatic group
We do not like the West but there is no need to fall in this conspirationist "it was CIA all along" nonsense

>>2277902
Actually I agree with OP in some regard. Considering Hakim would 100% side with ISIS

>>2277540
The jihadoids are a means for hwitey to keep Arabs and Africans savage and primitive
