If Salvador Allende hadn't been toppled in Pinochet's coup, would he have been able to successfully centrally plan Chile's economy using Project Cybersyn? Would its success have ushered in a golden age of cybernetic socialism as other socialist states adopted its model?

Wtf do those buttons do?

>>2278265
They implement socialism, obviously

If he learned from the coup and centralized the military under communist dictatorship maybe. If he stuck to what he was doing the US would just invade. You end up with dictatorships all over anyway with operation Condor so they would also need to export communism to other states and get allies or they would get surrounded like Cuba. Anaconda really wanted the copper so they could help the America do cybernetic fascism and thats way more important than bananas so I think the only way this works out is if they form a big union and successfully defend against invasion. You would basically get WW3 cause you also have Vietnam going on and the soviets or chinese would step in at some point and the need for copper wouldn't stop so Anaconda would have to reopen domestic mines and then you could have a labor movement tied to the anti-war movement at home. Plus Chile sharing tech with the Russians then I think you really could get cybersocialism but it wouldn't be easy.

>communism is when computer

Impossible to know

There's this podcast on the subject.

>If Salvador Allende hadn't been toppled in Pinochet's coup
It might not be that far fetched that the CIA did the coup because they were scared shitless of Cybersyn.
>>2278265
Supposedly they just operate the film slide screens on the wall and some indicators in another room to let the support staff do something.
The actual thing was not this conference room, but the system that ran interdependently of it. They had terminals in every major factory to make resource allocation and production targets less bureaucratic.

Honestly could modern AI make cybersyn more viable? I do like the idea.

>>2278327
the dumbest thing he did was disarm the left

>>2280689
It was already viable and current "AI" might make it worse. Cybercyn didn't make decisions it just compiled facts using economic mathematics and it collected data.
The reason why the coup was successful was a lack of militancy of Chilean socialists and a lack of international solidarity.

Yes, but the state of the art in applied AI/Machine Learning would be useful for optimising flows, but beyond that no, Generative AI for example would not add anything of value to the issue at this juncture as far as I know and would cause harm

Things may change in the future, but I wouldn't get excited; the amount of power the compute burns for these models is increasing greenhouse gas emissions despite the renewable energy push

Since they're obviously not going away, I strongly urge all token based models to be distilled into diffusion based models as these have lower compute requirements and hypothetically better intelligence since texts are formed as "thoughts" that diffuse into stability
