>All cops are bastards
This is true. Bastard profession, evolved from literal slave catching, services the state and capital
>But what if didn't?
Cops and police departments are giant gangs, this is known. Is the solution bringing back one town sheriff the people elect? We're going to be stuck with this system of policing, if not experience a worsening, if the left doesn't buck up and become cops to sabotage from within or start making calls for the return of sheriffs. Yankees love returns to tradition, and having them bring back something we had 100 years ago might be the only way to address this problem head on.

>>2285297Something like that actually wouldn't be too far out of the equation.
A handful of countries like Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Canada, and Germany already have a national police department for example.
Mexico also had one, though that one was notoriously corrupt to the point that it was disbanded during AMLO's presidency and replaced with their National Guard.
>>2285275They may be "gangs", but they're constrained by need to protect their own legitimacy, which limits their excesses.
The cartel leader or a Mad Max helmet guy can engage in any amount of gratuitous violence, so long as he doesn't look unstable to his peers. A cop can (at worst) engage in some petty corruption that has no direct impact on your life.
>>2292726What the hell.
Are you some sort of Nazbol who thinks that "Trotsky = Jew = Jews = Israel"?
>>2285277>>2285289If you actually read Marx for once, specifically what he wrote about the Paris Commune, you'd know any actual communist/socialist is for abolishing the police *immediately*. What was left to act as the enforcement organ of the commune was the national guard, which all people in the commune belonged to. It worked well too
<Wonderful, indeed, was the change the Commune had wrought in Paris! No longer any trace of the meretricious Paris of the Second Empire! No longer was Paris the rendezvous of British landlords, Irish absentees, American ex-slaveholders and shoddy men, Russian ex-serfowners, and Wallachian boyards. No more corpses at the morgue, no nocturnal burglaries, scarcely any robberies; in fact, for the first time since the days of February 1848, the streets of Paris were safe, and that without any police of any kind. The inability for "marxists" to see a reality without police is just proof of the eternalization of private property within their own mind. The police *only* exist to protect private property. No other reasons. If you think this is just replacing the word "police" with "national guard", that's just showing ignorance of what the police are.
>>2303752>police always existedIronically more of a liberal idea than what you're complaining about.
>>2292419ngl non-state sanctioned gangs also have to worry abt legitimacy too. The largest and most developed set in my old neighborhood would literally hold barbecues and 4th of July events for their neighborhood. Not to mention there recruitment pool is more localizied than a city police department.
>>2303752in burgerland its not a myth the first modern police department(as in special body of armed men in uniform tied to a local municipal government) was a group of slave catchers down in Charleston south carolina. Cant speak on other countries tho.
