Communist Workers’ Platform USA: Statement on the anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles In a statement on the current violent clashes in Los Angeles, the Communist Workers’ Platform USA (CWPUSA) stresses out: Driven by deep convictions on the safety of their fellow working class members, hundreds of protestors made the courageous decision to directly confront ICE agents. ICE has been a weapon of terror wielded by the ruling class against the workers of this country. Brutalizing migrant workers and breaking up families, Democratic and Republican governments alike have set these dogs on migrant workers. The anger of large sectors of the population with the policies of different managers of capital is growing. The second Trump administration has ratcheted up ICE raids nationwide since taking office in January. In service of their capitalist masters, they have enthusiastically enacted their directives to detain and deport migrant workers by the thousands. Workers of this country are disgusted by these terroristic measures. Pushed to action as they were in the 2006-2007 protests to defeat the “Sensenbrenner Bill”, thousands have taken the initiative to resist ICE raids in Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis, and Chicago by blocking ICE agents, obstructing their vehicles, surrounding agents en masse and other tactics. In response, police and state forces have made indiscriminate arrests, launched tear gas, and even deployed the National Guard. The fabricated claims and pretexts by Trump, about looting and gang members, are without evidence. The real targets have been workers: seamstresses, construction roofers, and others. This not only exposes the anti-migrant character of these attacks, but also their anti-worker agenda, made clearer by the arrest of union leader David Huerta.
https://www.idcommunism.com/2025/06/communist-workers-platform-usa-statement-on-the-anti-ice-protests-in-los-angeles.html The world turned upside down – a system in crisis Momentous events are transforming the world as we know it. With Trump causing political and economic upheaval globally, the pent-up contradictions of nearly two decades of capitalist crisis and stagnation are reaching a fever pitch. From the genocide in Gaza to the West’s defeat in Ukraine, and from rising tariffs to ballooning world debt, epoch-defining developments are shaking the consciousness of billions. To assess this situation, the Revolutionary Communist International (RCI) will convene its first-ever World Congress in Italy just eight weeks from now. There, delegates and visitors will engage in in-depth discussions on this draft of our World Perspectives document, approved by our International Executive Committee. To navigate the twists and turns of the world situation, a clear understanding of the current period is essential – without it, a revolutionary organisation is like a ship without a compass. Over the past two years, the RCI has grown exponentially. We are now present in 70 countries worldwide. The World Congress will mark a crucial step in preparing our International for the titanic shocks, class struggles, and revolutionary upheavals on the horizon. We are living through a period of sharp turns and sudden changes in the world situation. The election of Donald Trump as the president of the United States and his policies have introduced enormous instability into world politics, the world economy and relations between the powers. Trump has not caused this turmoil, which is the result of the crisis of capitalism, but his actions have enormously accelerated the process. Contradictions which had been building up under the surface for a long time have suddenly burst into the open, upsetting the whole situation. The so-called liberal world order, which had existed for decades, is now collapsing in front of our very eyes. In analysing the world situation we need to start with the fundamentals. Capitalism is a system that has long outlived its historical role. In its epoch of decay it produces wars, crises and environmental destruction, which in the long run threatens the very existence of life on the planet. The purpose of this document is to outline the main features of this crisis and to stress the need to build a revolutionary organisation which can overthrow it, the only way to guarantee a future for humanity. In the final analysis, the inability of the capitalist system to develop the productive forces is the cause of the crisis. The economy is hemmed in by the limits of the nation state and the private ownership of the means of production. For decades the capitalists have been using various methods to try to overcome these limitations: increasing liquidity, developing world trade, etc. All of these measures are now turning into their opposite.
https://marxist.com/world-perspectives-2025.htm[Proletarios Hartos de Serlo] [Self-]critical reflections on revolutionary defeatism todayWe decided to publish this unpublished text for two reasons. 1) Because the Action Week in Prague and its mailing list, to which we first sent it two months ago (last weeks of May 2024) are already behind us. And 2) because it received a couple of critical comments from comrades in other regions with their respective response from us via correspondence. That is to say, it generated an internationalist debate (still ongoing) on revolutionary defeatism around Palestine and Ukraine, which we hope will help to revolutionary proletarians everywhere today and, in turn, will bring other contributions. It should be added that, being an ongoing debate, this is still semi-finished material. On the other hand, the slanders that, under the pretext of these critical reflections, were made against us by another pair of despicable individuals who are standard bearers of the communist left have no place within this debate, but we only mention them separately to differentiate and distance them from it. Because, just as we are in favor of the debate as a tool for clarification and advancement of revolutionary praxis, so we are against slander as a counterrevolutionary practice, whoever it comes from. Both are taking place in material conditions of existence and class struggles with more differences than continuities than those of a century ago, mainly due to the high degree of development of the productive/destructive forces of capitalism, the deepening of the real subsumption of labor to capital and the crisis of reproduction of the class relation, plus other non-economic factors that are important today (ecological, geographic, historical, political, national, ethnic, gender, etc.); a world-historical context of catastrophic crisis and capitalist counterrevolution; the world bourgeoisie in decline but on the offensive and increasingly genocidal (and ecocidal); the world proletariat increasingly numerous, young and educated but in precariousness and on the defensive, or rather, defeated, weakened, isolated, disorganized and confused as an antagonistic class; and, therefore, a need for defense and, at the same time, for a rethinking of proletarian internationalism and revolutionary defeatism against capitalist war and peace, on the part of its radical minorities. Revolutionary defense and rethinking without nostalgia for the past, without illusions and without sectarianism – unlike the communist left – so that it is not a sterile dogma or a “Don Quixotism”, but a position, a perspective and a practice with sufficient power to resist and overcome the relation of forces currently unfavorable to the world proletariat. Having clear that the latter will be the work of the dynamics and the historical evolution of its own current struggles and of no one else. * * * Without nostalgia for the past, without illusions and without sectarianism, we hope that our materials will be of some use for reflection, discussion and collective action for real proletarian internationalism and revolutionary defeatism, in the present and the future.
