we've already seen this play out. Part of the support for Israel amongst the older set is based on nostalgia for a liberal/left vision of a country not unlike what you might wish for with Bernie Sanders living on a Kibbutz for a while and everything. But if that's ever what it was, which is an open question, it led to what Israel currently is. Equal rights means no legal distinction based on religion or ethnicity, which means you might just have to grow up and stop bargaining for "not an ethnostate per se"
