You forget people who are earnestly uninformed.
I grew up Jewish, and my family is full of people who genuinely, unironically, think that Israel is le wholesome big chungus peaceful state that got attacked and is now just defending itself, because they don't actually know anything about the situation and don't care to find out. They just know that as Jews they're supposed to like it, and leave it there.
This, by the way, is the problem with populism generally. In my experience, most people are, deep down, apathetic to every issue that doesn't directly effect them. They may claim to have opinions on various issues, but really, they're just doing it so they have something to say about the Current Thing. When push comes to shove, the middle east could be rocketed off into space and they wouldn't know it happened until three months after the fact.
