I was reading about this artist called Wyndham Lewis (found him through a book on Virginia Woolf's denunciation of fascism) who operated from the 1910s to the 1950s roughly who started something called the 'Vorticist' movement which was basically a shitty cubist clone (left is an example). Lewis was very machisimo patriarchal pro-fascist in his youth, saying that Anglo-Saxons should unite against 'all the Blacks, Browns, and High Yallers’ and finding ᴉuᴉlossnW and Hitler quite compelling early on. He talked often about there being a crisis for men not finding women now that they found independence (remind you of anything?) and was very big on moid machisimo in art. His main critique of Hitler was that he focused too much on Germans and not on race in general.

However, in the 30's he becomes disillusioned with Hitler and ends up in the early 40s becoming a full melting-pot style Lib. Whilst living in America he declared that the greatest advantage of being American was to have "turned one's back on race, caste, and all that pertains to the rooted state." In 1937 he produced the second piece 'The Surrender of Barcelona' a depiction of old Barcelona as an open cosmopolitan city, liberated, but one that is somehow surrendering to an invisible, existential enemy (an allegory for its descent into fascism).

IMO this piece is much better than his earlier work and shows that fascists are mentally ill freaks who can't make good art. The moral of this post is fascists are mentally ill retards and I hope they all get treatment soon.
