Anonymity is an important part of imageboards. It's important for our freedom on the Internet. The problem is that anonymity has to be bought. Bitcoin has become speculative in the financial world. An asset hoarded by states. People don't understand the purpose of this crypto-currency. Even people who explain Bitcoin find themselves up against a crowd of people who understand that it's an innovation, but these people are going to buy it thinking it's a revolution. This is unfortunate… as they risk losing a significant amount of capital in order to achieve their pecuniary goals. Bitcoin has a supply of 21M BTC, the problem is that the network lives from the exchange of bitcoin. If it remains stored by people, the miners will not be able to make a living on the network. Admittedly, the problem may seem remote, but it can't be ruled out, and then the quantum threat looms over BTC: if it isn't resolved, it will be relegated to the rank of former cryptocurrency great.

For these reasons, which seem problematic to me, we need to move towards libertarian assets that are not subject to corrupt finance, as Bitcoin is. Monero appears to be a solid, clearly anonymous asset that outperforms BTC, which acts in decorrelation to it. What's more, it has a clear plan for its transition to quantum. Monero is bigger than you'd think: its assets have risen from around $65 in 2020 to over $350 today, demonstrating the relevance of this cryptocurrency compared with others. It's gaining ground, but I don't expect it to emerge as BTC's rival in the years to come. For libertarians, however, it possesses the qualities that would enable it to defeat speculative finance as well as the states - it's out of control, like the Anonymous group. As a result, it frightens the latter, since citizens the world over deserve this breath of anonymity in a world where everything has to be checked.
