had an argument with a person insisting that putin is communist, and their reasoning was that they promote soviet nostalgia, which I argued is just the most readily available reactionary building material available for them as a fascist. it took me a good while to realize that they were not a tankie arguing in bad faith to push putin, but a manchurian nationalist arguing in bad faith to denigrate them. I don't know what to make of this, but I found it amusing that kuomintang lovers are almost perfectly aligned with tankie russia defenders in their talking points on communism, both having equally well honed anti-communist messaging.

Wait, if I'm reading this correctly, this person was anti-Putin and was saying Putin is a communist? (I've seen people say stuff like that too.)

>>2413135
yes, but it took me a while to realize because their arguments for it were indistinguishable from people that say that putin is a communist(complimentary). I just found that funny.

>he fell for the shitposting
embarassing

p sure this is just the communism=scurry russian henchmen belief you see cropping up from those who use pop culture to analyze politics and not the other way around.

>>2413142
That's funny. You mentioned bad faith, and I think it's because anti-Russian rightoids figure that depicting Putin as a communist is useful because they want to convince other rightoids to support Ukraine. If you're a lib and you're talking to other libs, you want to emphasize Putin's conservative aspects.

I've also seen these types pull up Yuri Bezmenov-type texts from the 1980s. There were other Russian emigres who'd give talks to right-wing audiences here in the U.S. back then emphasizing that Gorbachev's reforms were ackshually all part of a plot to trick America into letting our guard down. Lyndon LaRouche also did this I think (although he became pro-Russia later on). And then some claim (badly out-of-context Lenin quote) that all this conservative stuff you think you're seeing is Bolshevik trickery.

I must say a remarkable commitment to the bit then because it goes back years on their account, they really seem to be a manchukuo nationalist/restorationist.

- Where did you have this arguement?
- Assuming Twitter, why are you still on there?
- Assuming Twitter, why are you unable to tell that you were arguing with an LLM chatbot?
